Thanks for the heads up - my intention is to pull all the swirl valves out so it simply turns empty shafts, my biggest worry was the spider of fuel lines up top, and the seemingly endless number of electrical connectors that span across the top. Someone told me you can pull one side and flop the...
I'm about to have the HPFP recall done and every time I see something like this, it scares me to pause. I'm about "half deleted" so far ... my tune has the EGR off and all of it's annoying codes. If yours is still a vanilla tune - I guess it wouldn't hurt to pull the tube from the cooler to the...
Dang, that's kind-of a shame - I rode on a bottomed out bag one time and I thought my spine was going to pop out the top of my skull, but before I gave up on it, I asked a few questions around here, and found the "aftermarket does provide" in this case. I was 100% ready to do the delete since...
When I bought mine, it had 295/60R20 Nittos on it, and now I'm on 35x12.50R20's and in all honesty, it's about as "Rolly" as it was with the slightly smaller tire. We've got massive front swaybars, but our rear ones feel like an after-thought. I'd wager a properly beefy rear one with some...
Oddly enough... the 3-liter Powerstroke is basically our engine with wider rod and mains.
Honestly - I think your due-diligence will pay off. The bearing size was never the issue, the EPA meddling is what ruined the reputations of these. I know people in Europe who have run these for over a...
A proper delete with the corresponding tune simply deletes ALL of the PCM parameters for the DEF injection system. I'm "halfway" deleted so far, but will be doing the full enchilada in about two weeks time. I purchased a tune that had an "EGR off" tune and an "EGR off, DEF off" tune too. I...
Just a thought... the saying "The aftermarket provides" seems to have walked right past our little pasta-diesels when it came to these valves. Dodge wants 300 for a piece of plastic with a 6-pin sensor... kinda bonkers. The aftermarket options are 60 dollars or less, but ... as things have...
I played that video 4 times, I couldn't hear anything strange... maybe a little something "whiny" in there, but nothing shockingly out of place... maybe it's just my ears?
These engines have achilles heels - the biggest one is the oiling system - many which are neglected by people who never had to deal with diesel engine maintenance. The biggest problems I've encountered is TIPM failures (which has happened so often on this side of the pond that the cost to...
Hrm... these little pasta-diesels typically run oil temps around 200-230 on the regular, at least that's what I've gathered around here. If the coolant temp gauge is hitting 3/4 though... that's a bit of a worry. If you know anybody with a scanner that can give you real-time readings, maybe have...
What's the temperature creeping up "To" ?
If memory serves, the fan relay works with the sensors, but the AC sort of overrides it - at least in most vehicles I've ever dealt with. Tried playing musical relays with the fan relay?
Unplug the sensors on the bumper. If memory serves, there's a master connector on the driver's side for both the front and rear ones. I actually had to pull mine off to "lengthen" them with my aftermarket bumpers. If you're getting faults because of moisture *in* the connector, just clean them...
I think the bigger question is did you come from a diesel background before this truck? I too had similar concerns when I first got mine, but as I got more and more familiar with this particular engine, and a few 6BT's and IDI's before that, I realized these are very different animals compared...
These valves are garbage - the sensor in them mostly. I've done two in 11 months. If they're going to fail that often, then let the aftermarket cheapie-ones provide. I'm sick of dealership fleecing for little return. My last valve was 60 bucks.
