You could get one of those GDE tunes and eliminate the EGR. GDE is on my short list. Presently your bigger problem is the oil in the coolant that might warrant an engine replacement.
"I just still can't get a straight answer from anyone if I can run one of these tunes turn egr off and be able to smog my truck every other year."
If you can't pass emissions you are taking kind of "taking the eco" out of the ecodiesel.
That being said, I am following these tune threads with...
Celtic having a 1 year warranty to back their product against any mechanical breakdowns is pretty enticing of course it only covers up to 10k where an engine can cost 30k that's disheartening but their product does seem to have top notch testing. I just still can't get a straight answer from...
I agree with those conclusion. I suspect, it's too risky to use tunes on the EcoDiesel and with (FCA) dealers very quick to blame user to avoid warranty coverage. They will even use/blame problems, because you used third party products, oil, coolant and bad DEF.
At the same time, I had...
When towing my Trailer (5000 pounds) in the Rockies (Banff, Yoho, Jasper), going 90-110 KM per hour, using Cruise control and RPM 3000-3500, My EGT 1 and EGT 2 will spike to 1500 F. I get an alarm from my Edge Insight 2 CS Monitor. (Factory Default Setting). For now, I will be cautious, will...
When we help each other, we both benefit. Glad to help.
You can also use boot camp, and create a window partition. You would need a copy/license of Window 7, but won't need VMware fusion or Parallel. Parallel is another program like VMware fusion. The advantage of using VMware Fusion, you...
ok I have been researching the Tune and what type to run. since i am new to the diesel engine and the workings it all.. I Talked directly to GDE to find out all they would tell.. and theirs will not void the warranty... because the dealer will not know you have it it is a ECM change out..
I...
Here one opinion express by one company that makes tunes and monitors. Something to look into it, or at least make you pause about the claims of tunes. (I'm now at 9K with the truck, time will tell me more, no doubt, so far the EcoDiesel has met or exceeded my expectation)
My fuel economy is...
I'm doing a wait and see. So far my economy and performance is excellent. Don't get no diesel pee smell. I do have the Edge CS2 and REGEN seems to take care of itself, without me having to help or alter my driving. Just had a recent update to the EcoDiesel. It disable the REGEN DISTANCE on...
I feel the same way...it would be money well spent until something happens....which for these motors has not been terribly uncommon...I just can't see a little fun over the price of possibly having to pay for an engine or even a cooler job...I like my warranty way too much for any of that.
Of course.. That's why I don't have one! :D
But, eventually I'll give in, but it will be for the deletes along with the increase in power. If I'm going to void my warranty, I want to make it worth it.
I'm so on the fence about these tunes. The drivability and fun factor would no doubt increase, along with useful functions like EGR delete and the engine braking capability. MPG increases, power increases, etc etc. All great attributes of an aftermarket tune that are so appealing.
But when all...
