Replaced fluid and filter at 120k.
light hauling
Temp 180-200. 200 being in tow haul mode.
Shifts through all the gears fine on the up shift. If I do a rolling stop or stop up hill I don’t get any clunking.
Note: today while driving it did make a strange shift and smelt something burning like...
Hey y’all, I have a 2015 eco diesel with 260k miles. Just recently when coming to a complete stop I get a horrible clunk. Doesn’t do it in tow haul mode? Anyhow dealership says it has no codes but they suspect that the lower 1-2 gears are failing. “You should be happy that you got 260k out...
I guess I'm wondering if it would be safe to plate off the egr diffuser tube on both ends with the valve being stuck open? I am handy enough to do that procedure. A complete delete not so much. Is this radiator fluid being cycled into the motor or is it just being burnt off in exhaust?

Ok so I just did my 121,000 mile oil change and I noticed coolant dripping from the under carriage. Checked coolant and it was low. I have only added about 2 quarts of coolant since I bought it brand new. I did some research and did a coolant pressure...
2015 1500 ED tradesman model. Rolled it off the lot with 26miles on it. I have done all required maintenance. @ 20,000miles bad oil cooler replaced. (warranty) @27,000 oil found in radiator fluid ??? total mystery to dealership they flush radiator(warranty) @25,00 thru 45,000 I am getting EGR...
That's Great! Well safe passage home and keep us posted. I think all that should be required for EGR leak is just the O ring so that could save some headache for others (radiator baths :) just leaving it on. That sounds like a very doable surgery. Cheers
Hey "BoostN" is there anyone else...
Hey thanks for sharing. How is the truck running? Any overheating or anything that you feel would need further adjusting (the GDE tune)? Are you essentially deleting the EGR with a cover plate, removing the exhaust from manifold to cc, and running a GDE tune.? Is that all that is required...
Here is some good info on imminent EGR failure and possibly why you should NOT wait to delete it.
Such a beautiful engine, what they did to these things will eventually be realized. It is illegal to delete your Emissions system in most states but its better than having a 50,000 lawn...
Update: Just another quick note you have to purchase the EGR Cooler before hand even though it might only be an O ring because dodge changed their parts policy. I paid the $120 diagnostics fee and am going to trade it in for an older cummins.
Thanks I will look into it but I think I am going to let the truck go. After my experience with dodge reps today it's clear they don't stand behind their trucks. I'm not going to take on the financial burden of fixing a poorly designed emissions nightmare that only looks like it will get...
So here's the story I got from Dodge about the EGR cooler. It is covered under 30,000 mile warranty. It is not covered under 100,000 mile powertrain. It's not considered apart of powertrain. The EGR cooler is on back order week and a half or more.(interesting, must be a lot of these cases?)...
Plus shipping and tax your looking at just under 200 i just got off the phone with GDE. If I want to use my truck while my ECM is getting REtuned that would be with their ECM swap out deal, so add another $700 for the ECM core plus tax etc.... Its a good tune as far as I can tell. Just giving...
I purchased and installed the GDE Hot Tune on my truck after having my exhaust filter cleaned. All I have to say for GDE is they may have a decent program but they will take your 700 bucks and will leave you in the dust. I have 94,000 miles on my truck and thought i was in the clear warranty...
So the dealership flushed the radiator and said the check engine was regen fouling. I complained that it took 2 days to decider the codes and that I thought the oil in the reservoir was a deeper problem. I did find something concerning. The oil level was reading way past the fill line or flat...
Thanks for the info John. I'm going to take it in tomorrow and see what they say about the oil in the reservoir first off. Then I will worry about the regen problem.
