I have a 16 also with no issues in stock condition. I did the first AEM but am not willing to get the VA7 update to it. With no hesitation, no codes and new EGR cooler my opinion is close the hood and drive it.
All is well. No coolant leaks. Yes, in for inspection (about an hour) then returned the following week for repair. Monday morning first thing may have helped.
The new cooler is being released one per dealer per week. Shop the smaller volume dealers in your area and have them order one with the gaskets and any other parts required.
I run short trips and tow a jon boat a couple times a year, use no fuel additives and have no tune. 14,700 miles in 3 years as a daily driver. no codes ever. Go figure.
The department of transportation requires a 10 hour break before being able to drive up to 11 hours within a 14 hour period. There is the charge time. Now the problem is battery life and weight. Some rigs are running hydrogen for mostly local runs.
I had My 16 done and can't tell any difference hot or cold. Reading a lot of other post I am one of a very small percentage with no issues. With some tune options in turmoil right now may be difficult to reprogram away any problems you may encounter. Of course the money is nice to have. Mine...
The EPA first mandated low sulfur then ultra low sulfur fuel as a way to reduce pollutants which drove the cost up to double the price. That is our NEW superior fuel.
