Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I don't have an EcoDiesel but I'm kind of considering a RAM as my next vehicle.
Since we're already here, let me get some opinions on what I would like to get and do to it.
I'm thinking a 2016-17 ED model with 4x4. I would like to...
look up Green Diesel Engineering or PPEI enginetunes. Without putting the EGR valve in a deep sleep this truck can be a PITA. My EGR is in a deep sleep and it has been a fantastic truck. Make sure you are buying it for highway driving and not city driving in bumper to bumper traffic. New...
I got mine for a wholesale-ish price. I’ve heard they are higher now but don’t know how much. Green Diesel Engineering (GDE) got me mine. I don’t believe they are a retailer/wholesaler for FCA but certainly you can talk to them. I also have there ECM and transmission tunes and have had great...
Nope, they don't touch the TCM...they do tell the transmission via the ECU (new engine tune) to hold gears longer etc..has to do with "torque request" from the driver basically. But no, it's NOTHING compared to actually tuning the transmission. Which you can do completely stock. If you decide to...
Your best bet for information about GDE’s product is their website.
My take is that it’s a full reprogram of the ECM. I’m not savvy enough to breakdown everything they accomplish but it does shutdown the EGR and quiets all the foolish sensors such as quality of DEF and whatnot. (You can run...
I have no experience with other tunes but here is my take on it... GDE does their tune mostly for a better driving experience such as throttle response and cruise control enhancements, just to name a very few of what they all do. Other tuners seem to focus on making as much HP and torque as...
My main advice is to avoid the military overseas auto sales racket. They say tax free but you lose the ability to negotiate completely. Getting $10-12K off sticker is pretty standard and buying now at the end of the year and model style you could do much better. Just have your credit union...
so I was looking for a tune on ppei today for a different engine and stumbled back over to the ecodiesel tunes and they now make an option that you can select between all the tunes they offer, for an extra 150$ (100 for the other tunes, 50 for the selector switch). I am mainly just throwing this...
did you remove the actual egr after tune? how's it been so far? I have a hemi but looking to trade for a ED. cummins to big and expensive for once in awhile towing.. thoughts anyone
Hi gang,
I've had my '14 ED for a couple of weeks now, just turned over 60,000 miles and it's all I've been looking for! I have had a Jeep Commander Hemi that has awesome power, goes ANYWHERE and is very comfortable - but averaging 15.6 mpg's on the highway doesn't cut it when I'm putting 4000...
Congrats. Some tunes will produce more power help mileage & help your oil to stay clean etc but the aftermarket intake is more about being to be able to use other engine management systems for useing this engine in others applications & with other transmissions be it race, military, or like...
It's definitely more efficient! I would encourage you to stay away from tunes that could overspeed the turbo (high performance tunes) but I didn't buy mine to burn rubber. I have a GDE Hot Tune and love it! Keeps the engine cleaner by shutting off the EGR and eliminates turbo lag. You get a bump...
Thanks. I’ve read a lot of good things about the GDE tune!! Thinking about going with regen and high idle tunes also. Don’t know about engine brake. I’ve got 3.92 rears.
First time diesel owner? The truck well down shift to attempt and control its speed while going downhill. But a diesel engine without compression or exhaust braking well do little to hold itself back. There is aftermarket ecm tunes that close the vanes is the turbo to create back pressure thus...
Just FYI, the GDE tune, is an actual RAM ECU, which is why they give a heavy discount for a core exchange. They reuse it. Just look around the forum. I was researching it after I purchased a 2017 ED.

The GDE tune is a full replacement ECU exchange. So, you remove and replace the ECU I am pretty sure it does not have any RAM marking on it as it is an aftermarket ECU. So if ram want to open the engine bay they can see the different ECU. I am wanting the EGR turned off and the Engine brake...
I've been running the tune now for several months. For me it was not an earth shattering improvement in performance. The performance improvement is a bit more like your horse feeling his oats a bit more in the morning. Not the mind blowing the improvement some tunes give but at the possible...
