...GDE but can't justify the cost. Are there others that electronically turn off the EGR?
This doesn't really make sense, In the world of enginetunes I would say you generally get what you pay for and if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Too many unknowns on random cheap tuners...
I purchased an ERG/DPF delete and Engine/trans tune from HD Diesel for my 2014 Ecodiesel. Over the past 2 days I installed a Banks intake, banks throttle delete, the ERG delete, the DPF delete, and then the tunes. After starting the truck and letting run at idle for about 15 minutes I finally...
You refer to and yet denigrate the success of the EPA air pollution controls since the mid 1970's. Vehicle exhaust emissions have been reduced by a factor of several 100's, yet you state that vehicle exhaust is still the big bad source. What you may have missed during the years is the change in...
Hello everyone.
Currently i am "driving" a 2020 silverado 1500 trailboss that has been in the shop for a month with an engine knock they cant fix. Bought it new and its been an issue and is on its way to becoming a lemon.
I have eyed the ecodiesel for years just never pulled the trigger. But i...
If you are looking for a low maintenance (fuel, oil, drive) type of vehicle the Ridgeline is for you. If you like to tinker/repair/modify, and maintain the ecodiesel might be your ticket. Read around this forum for enginetunes, if that is something you are comfortable with you will enjoy the RAM
There are various levels of enginetunes that will maximize your vehicles performance that you can easily take in and out for testing and at least one compliant tune that should help with the longevity of your vehicle.
That is a great looking rig, hopefully you will be very happy with it. Not sure what you consider series but read around here for enginetunes. That would probably be a good start to any mods you are looking at.
Thanks for all of the information you have provided. I have a 2016 Eco and as I posted above was almost T-boned due to the excessive acceleration lag from a dead stop. I am not a mechanic like many who post here but you seem to really know what you are talking about so I would like to ask you a...
I had these issues with heat as well, with OEM tune and configuration, pulling 6,000 lbs flat ground with headwind. Added the now no longer sold oil cooler and remote oil filter and lowered antifreeze temp to 210/212 but oil stayed in the 270 range, trans still 220 and above for short periods...
Yes, and from what I have read IMO the tunes and shutting off the EGR are the best things you can do for it.
My Service Manager supports the tunes because my Eco is my daily driver with more short hops than freeway time. Short hops are this engine's nemesis.
Our Colorado tunes are released. We are working on the Ford now. Thus far with an engine and trans tune on that application we can drop the 0-60 almost 2 seconds. This will also be emission compliant when it is released.
Yes, If GDE isn't already he will have an approved tune. There's no reason not to believe what they are saying about the new tune, Kieth has a good reputation and apparently some good engineers/tune experts available.
What bothers me a bit is GDE has always said it is important to turn off the...
John, I'm starting to look seriously at tunes for my ECO, I've checked GDE & SFT, these are the choices for me, the EPA approved GDE tuneis adverting 75% reduction in soot production and fewer regens, how do you think the sofaking package comparesas far as soot production, I've read your posts...
I’m new to our standard-tune 2014 Jeep GC EcoDiesel, but I don’t think it has a “Tow-Haul” setting... that sounds like a truck thing. I put the GC in “Sport” mode when towing in hill country or in stop-and-go urban traffic. The Jeep EcoDiesel slows quickly to a lower constant speed, just as if...
The SFT tune operates the "engine/exhaust" (actually it is turbo braking) braking automatically when you are in tow-haul and above 2000 rpms. To keep it above 2000 rpms you merely downshift to another gear.
I'm not sure how it activates in the other tunes.
Your next question may regard warranty. Yes, a tune will absolutely render your warrant null and void. That is why it is absolutely essential to have an tune that you are comfortable removing and reinstalling periodically and the basic mechanical knowledge to do it if you are planning use a...
Julian,
Here is another tuner similar to the one that Vern posted except this one is in Nevada, the other is in Canada.
And yes, with either tuner you can easily return the tune to stock and when the dealer visit is over easily put the tune back in.
I am using both SFTs engine (ECU) and tranny...
