I'm a new guy here, but thought I would make a couple of comments on this discussion.
FCA isn't the only horse to blame here, the main blame here lies with the EPA. The EPA is who is mandating all of the emissions requirements & components for these engines. Unfortunately these components are...
I purchased mine from Dave Smith 2018 with around 25 miles on it I payed him 35000.00 and he shipped it from the west coast to the east coast for me when I read it December 28 I drove it till my tuner came in from gde took all exhaust off installed tunes and it runs very well 26 mpg town road...
Well, this whole mess starts with the EPA. The Mandated EGR solved a problem 30 years ago, today creates more problems than it solves. The scientific evidence is present that with current SCR converters that NOX reduction does not need EGR. EPA claims that it uses only scientific based solutions...
Thanks for the report, very complete. Seems like all of us SFT users are more than satisfied.
I hope the GDE fanboys who declare that none of the SFT features work will read your report. Maybe, just maybe, they will accept the fact that the SFT tunes work as advertised.
Then I hope they read...
Congrats, you'll enjoy the truck again and you'll also notice your fuel economy improve the more and more the more you drive it. I've had a solid four weeks of city driving with very little highway, city traffic in Mississauga, short trips, probably 90% short trips, and I"m still holding steady...
CDS
Thanks again for this Torque info, my next little project, this is awesome.
To All who commented on the GDE/SFT questions...John, John (wanted to say the Johns, but you know..), Carl, CDS ....hope I’m not missing someone... I very much appreciate the info you provided. I did however end up...
The turbo has already been replaced, it was covered under my warranty but the EGR wasn't. The EGR was $2,300 to fix. Now it's back in the shop for intake manifold failure and full fuel system failure too. The turbo blades were badly damaged due to the shaft braking or something like that they said.
Fair warning if you take it in for the $3,075 AEM settlement dollars it will noticeably degrade both your engine & transmission tunes. And yes FCA might cover / reimburse you for the EGR cooler & or turbo. (IF the turbo is actually bad. WiTech only shows what could be a problem for x errors.)...
It's the New Guy with the low mileage 2015 RAM - on the advice of my "diesel consultant", I have selected the engine (exhaust?) braking option for my GDE tune. And now I'm having second thoughts after 1) seeing a thread in this forum where an individual experienced some turbo-related damage and...
Like we used to say "whatever lets you sleep at night" you should drive what you have confidence in. My 14 did not like the mountains going to Montana from Oklahoma and after the AEM I had doubts it could pull the RV at all, it had difficulty pulling the uphill start assist. I had 104K miles on...
You'll definitely see a MPG improvement with GDE. I do a lot of city driving and I'm impressed, even with city driving, my mpg is higher than what it was when it was stock. With stock, I was getting 21 mpg with city driving, with gde, i'm pretty steady around 27-28 mpg in the city with stop...
I've just scored a 2015 Ram 1500 Tradesman Quad Cab with only 16,000 miles on it from a dealer in Elmira, NY. I've been following the eco-diesel forums for about a year now, keeping my eyes open, and found a great deal. It helped that the truck had been sitting on their lot since 4th quarter...
I'm in Mississauga, I see the same traffic. Honestly, I've tracked my regens and every regen occurs between 1150-1250 km with GDE, and that's with a LOT of city driving!!
You can get yourself an OBDII scanner and an android app called Torque Pro, for a very low cost to monitor your regens...
Loving all this info and thank you for the pricing offer from SFT! Much appreciated!
Regarding REGENS... when I’m doing lots of highway, my concern is near zero. Trouble is, I’m in Toronto, Canada and due to my job find myself occasionally struggling through downtown traffic, at its worst i may...
First of all it’s the gooberments fault not FCA. Secondly you got/get more than enough funds to get both GDE engine & transmission tunes since the AEM has degraded both. You’re truck will be considerably & very noticeably better than ever before. Oil stays clean as it turns off pointless EGR &...
Do you have a picture of the grill? I have the big-horn edition, but in canada, we don't get the warm temps as often, but when we do, it does seem to run a little hot...
Thanks for the info, I consider you the high mileage king. I thank you have the most miles on your truck out of ANYONE that I have read about on this site and all other sites combined.
The AEM messes up both the engine and the transmission tunes. Especially if you tow get both tunes. Also add the turbo brake feature it’s outstanding. Put with the factory TBC in the mountains is worth its weight in gold. While you are getting this stuff you might consider adding the new...
