You don't have to get both. I pull a 17' deep-V boat during the summer and a 5,000 pound trailer in the fall, so I elected to get the trans tune as well. The settlement money i am expecting will cover both (~$1,850) and for me it was a no-brainer. Since installing the tunes, my truck VERY...
Right now, $720 shipped to your door. We had a client who was 100% stock, spoke with us for SEVERAL weeks trying to improve his MPG. MAP cleaned, rear brakes checked, tire PSI, fuel additives, etc etc....only getting 17 MPG, that's HORRIBLE and something is clearly wrong. Engine temps were very...
This is bad for a diesel. Excess heat dissolves the main barrings, plus they're had a few engine fires. Be careful.
As for our tunes, the Silver content has been less and less each oil analysis to show the tunes are removing the otherwise wear and tear. See website for recent Oil analysis.
I think then, that the new software just makes it very slow until the truck gets hot. I would look at one of the two major enginetunes. They both eliminate turbo lag along with many other benefits.
Great information!
So once someone purchases the tune, they will have access to reinstall the factory if needed? Basically, the software is always available for stock, stage 1 and stage 2?
On the offroad tune, do you need to alter the exhaust system or run through the current exhaust...
...not supposed to.
Working the clock basically 24/7 for weeks, I partnered with an engineering company to develop to Stage 1 and Stage 2 enginetunes. There's hardly any smoke with the fully deleted tune. There's absolutely no throttle lag after 800 RPMs. The only throttle lag experience is...
Also a fellow ecodiesel victim in Wisconsin here. We have a Jeep that has been amazing and that’s the reason I bought my 1500 ecodiesel.
What features/modifications did you do with your GDE tune? I’m thinking high idle for winters, deleting the DEF (my county doesn’t emission test). Was your...
Sounds like a good plan, I plan on doing similar but I'll be going through SFT as their handheld can flash a single ECM as needed between tuned and stock.
Roger that Patrity...
All, i emailed GDE yesterday afternoon and they confirmed that the engine and transmission tunes are available for trucks that do not already have the GDE tune AND have had the AEM completed.
Here is my plan:
I will be purchasing a tuned ECM from GDE based on the AEM...
...now.
I talked to the guys at GDE last week as well. They told me it was going to be a couple months before they would have updated enginetunes for the AEM software. I have a note to call them back in July, and I hope to have my settlement money ready to pay for the GDE ECM/TCM tunes...
CS,
First, thanks again for linking me up with SKT! Looking forward to getting that settlement money to get the tunes!
Second, what is there truly to gain from taking your truck from Stage 1 to Stage 2? Better MPG? Power? For me as a western hunter, I don’t want a loud truck. Last damn thing I...
Getting the ugly out of the way first - somewhere around 7% of these engines die from main bearing failure. The engines were, in these cases, defective. The good news is that this is the easiest risk to mitigate because warranties on the drivetrain abound.
These are great trucks if you use...
I have good friend that is full Italian and just move back there not long ago. I told him what happened and he just laughed. For some reason wasn't surprised at all. He said that either the engines are amazing pieces of power and engineering or they are well ________ (add your imagination to the...
yeah, as TC Diesel says, some of these engines just aren't assembled well. No amount of good oil, magic spells or sofa king tunes will save them if they are not put together right. I bet the next engine has billet mains or at least are assembled by robots instead of Italians with a wrench in...
I actually got this ecodiesel from Bluebonnet up in New Braunfels :P
I'm not interested in sending in my ECM and having my truck down for a week or two. What are my alternatives? (I should have stated this in the OP)
Blue Bonnet DCJR is having a sale on the new 2500 with the Cummins engine! Who would have thought that the Number 1 Ram dealer in the country is in Texas? (everyone). Check out the GDE, PPEI or Sofa King tunes. All good.
