I think price point is the main draw to the product. If you can get dyno sheets to show the benefits of before/after and have hard data the customer can go off of that would be a huge selling point.
A lot of folks would feel better about spending ~600 than 1200.

That's what reviews are. As a potential customer, you have to read them all and then make your decision. I don't know of many customers that read one review and make a purchase. I sure don't..
Some folks have little issues here and there, and others have bigger ones. But you find the majority of the EcoDiesel owners are happy and love the truck.

Well, if you've just had the engine replaced.. and it sounds like you might need to get it replaced (yet again). I would probably get the talks going of FCA buying the truck back. That is some tough luck for sure!
