I think steering headlights are the ticket! With all the bling in headlights these days - fancy LED designs, super bright projectors, headlights that are 4 square feet on face - it amazes me that a simple sharp turn is still done in the dark by most vehicles.

Not going to be an easy decision. Like you, I would be hesitant buying used. One thing is for sure, you will better your chances of no drama ownership if you tune the truck. Vendors like Sofa King Tuned and HD Diesel seem to be good options. Good luck!

I think whoever labeled 125k miles as the limit is full of it. If anything has been proven, it is that if/when these little engines let go it has nothing to do with mileage or usage. That has been the frustrating part of watching failures with the VM 3.0L.

GDE was a fan favorite but as TC said, was forced closed. They are due to resume selling a CARB approved tune in the near future. Until then, it has been said the HD Diesel tune is closest to the original GDE tune. If I were in the market that's where my money would go.

I would have reservations about buying used unless I know the owner and it's history. If buying new, eh, chances are better you'll never have a major problem than not. And if you do, that's what that 5/100 warranty is for. The new ones are super sharp! Look to Canada for a tune as soon as they...

Is your coolant level dropping? I have added about half a gallon of coolant in 91k miles. I have not noticed any particular smells or seen signs of leaking, but added coolant based on cold level in the bottle. I check it every other week or so. Adding any coolant, unless it just wasn't filled...

Don't sign and don't let them touch it. Run for the hills if FCA wants to plug into your truck. Nothing good will come of it and not worth the money.

It just depends on the driver. A person in it for the long haul, who will turn a wrench to keep it on the road, will more than likely realize the benefits of quieting all the sensors and shutting down the EGR via tunes. That driver will know to shut the barn door before the horses get out, not...

Just placed my EGR delete order with them today matter of fact. At 90k flawless miles, I'm not taking it in to a dealer or risking the cooler failing.

The fix is to visit your northern brothers at HD diesel for a tune and an EGR delete. I know it may void warranty, but doing so will probably avoid needing a warranty. That may not be the information you want to hear, but it's the best I have. I've not read anything on an FCA fix. Anyhow, good...

Search HD Diesel Supply in Canada or SofaKing Tuning in the US. (Although I'm unsure how SFT is in business while every other tuner in the States has been shut down...) Basically you'll swap your ECM or download a tune via the OBD port.

Tune it and don't look back.

Apples to Oranges TC. Big boys don't adhere to the same restrictive emission standards. And many, if not most, of the 600k mile motors you speak of have no emission equipment. Plus the VM 3.0 is also only just now 5 yrs old in NA and has entirely been produced with restrictive emission...
