Stage 2 keeps the soot from being dumped in your intake. Smelly = smells like a diesel truck. Stage 2 is the only way to go... unless you are in CA.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen one of the tuners be truthful. All have been either said the competition is a crook, inflated their knowledge and/or inflated the ability of their tune...... Is it fair to so they are not overly different at this point?

I'm not disagreeing with you but will offer there are many folks that write that the GDE tune suppresses egr function, some of which are here on this forum. They talk about how their oil stays clear because of it. Do you have a tune you like/suggest?
