I would wait for TC to chime in here but it sounds like we had the exact same truck. I moved a friend's toy hauler, about 8,200lbs. All I will say is that I'm glad I was just moving it about 40 miles. I would have been white knuckled for sure on the interstate or freeway.
You are smart for...
I hear ya on that, we have a '93 4Runner and that thing simply will not die. I would trust it to go anywhere, anytime.
I'm hoping the 7.3 is more that way, just a simple pushrod V8 and the model I bought is pretty stripped down. Time will tell.
Had such high hopes for the ED but I couldn't...
You know everyone has their version of intervals but I did every 6K and fuel filter every other oil change.
One of the few oil changes that I did twice and literally didn't spill a drop. It's that simple.
I purchased filters from the dealership and saved all my receipts.
I won't go into a lot of details but engine replacement before 300 miles, cab off the frame twice, treated terribly by "customer care" and the dealership, multiple lights on for various systems and 8" display doing super weird stuff on a new truck.
I decided to go back to F250 and the 7.3 gas...
Yep, a downfall of the dealership doing that work. It is one the most straight forward oil changes you could ever do. Maybe watch some videos and next time tackle it yourself. You can do it for a third of the price yourself. Even the fuel filter is super simple.
Hopefully it was something simple like that. My new 2020 had an oil leak and was a defective engine block casting. Had to have an engine replacement but no problems since. I sure hope you do not have to go through that!!
Keep us updated.
Wow, what a process to go through just to get a new truck!! Congratulations finally getting it all figured out.
Enjoy it and post a picture of you get a chance.
I will let the experts weigh in but IMO, the ED costs are higher and finding a qualified technician is even more difficult. Any decent dealership or even a qualified diesel mechanic has worked on tons of Cummins, not so much with the ED's.
I purchased complete coverage up to 100K miles on my...
I agree with these guys 100%, most sites, whether it be motorcycles, guns, trucks, cameras or anything else, are people looking to complain online or search for a fix to a problem. Rarely do they join to tell everyone how much they love whatever the subject may be.
The ED has its share of...
Thanks Dave!! I can agree and back you up on a 2020 4x4 Bighorn, completely stock. I did a 309 mile round trip today and rolled in at 31.1 on the dash, 31.02 by hand. All 65mph and under, back country roads in middle TN and southern KY. It was a pretty day and drive and I was about as easy as I...
