So i was changing the oil on a 2017 today and the filter drainback valve was laying in the filter housing. The truck is still under warranty. I assume the dealer will replace the whole filterhousing assembly. In the meantime does it hurt to run with it removed or should i match up a oring to hold it in?

I don’t think that’s the oil drain back valve. I think it’s the oil bypass valve. It’s been a couple years so I’m sure you’ve figured out the answer since then, but I wouldn’t run it without either of them. The drain back valve being missing would cause somewhat of a dry start, whilst the bypass valve being missing would lower oil pressure. I’ve just had one break on mine, too.
