I keep my ED on a trickle-charger in my shop and got tired of popping the hood or searching around for a dangling cable end. The solution for me was to install a panel mount socket on the bumper fascia.
I bought an Optimate 40" panel mount socket for $16.56 on eBay. OptiMATE Cable O-40, Weatherproof SAE socket, panel mount
There is a nice clear area inside of the panel, and after numerous re-measurements (really hard to just punch holes in the truck) I drilled a small pilot hole, then used hole saw bit to drill a 3/4" hole.
I then mounted the socket and fished the wire up the inside to the battery.
A couple of zip ties keep everything in place and now all I have to do is back my truck into the shop and plug in the charger.
