I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Limited with the Ecodiesel that I purchased new. I’m very pleased with the truck and currently have 120K miles on it. At the moment I have the failed tone wheel/crank positioner issue. After seeing the part and its design I am baffled as to who thought this was a good idea, but that horse has left the barn. I’m having it replaced (hopefully under an extended warranty) and I plan on long term ownership of this truck. This is my typical vehicular ownership pattern. German cars are the exception. 100k miles and they are sent on to others before they become money pits. But I digress. What are the suggested engine mods or deletions that seem to improve engine longevity and performance? Any and all suggestions are welcome! I love this truck, and I’ve owned just about every make and model on the planet.

I have been really tempted to ask someone like Haltech to come up with a CPS relocation kit with a bolt-on reluctor and put the darn thing back up front where it belongs and is far more serviceable.

For longevity (the core of my build as well) - I went with an SFT tune currently stage 1, but soon going to stage 2 (which was included with my kit), replacing the intake manifold with a clean, new one - but removing the swirl valves, and removing the butterfly in the throttle body as well. This way the sensors are happy, but turning empty shafts. Another thing worth consideration is an insane diesel secondary oil filtration system. It's a little costly- but the results they give speak for themselves.

Also coming from a german-auto background - I kinda wonder why they didn't copy BMW's old idea of getting signal off the flexplate teeth if they insist on having the sensor in the rear.
