Recently purchased a 2020 Ram ECO Diesel from a family member. They had owned the truck since brand new and rant and raved at how great it was with little to no troubles ever. 92,000 miles on the truck, I buy it, drive it home from his house (3 hours away), no trouble. Park the truck at home in MN. Next morning, go out to stat the truck (a fairly cold morning in MN) but not terrible. Only -10 degrees. Truck starts right up-----but----dashboard goes completely crazy with every buzzer, warning, light on, everything you can imagine lights up to basically tell me "Warning! Warning! Do not drive me! Nothing will work." Can't shift. Can't drive it. WTF Brand new AGM battery installed only 2 days prior and truck was driven 10 times with the new battery. First RAM truck I've ever owned. I'm thinking it was a very poor decision. I'm hoping this forum can convince me different. I currently own a 2010 Duramax. Owned since brand new! 200,000+ miles. Little to no trouble---ever.

Sometimes mine acts silly in the colder weather. Typically once I get engine temp to 60 or so it all goes back to normal. These trucks are known to glitch sometimes.

I live in cold weather 3-4 months out of the year. This is a concern. Do you know if Ram has a fix?

Did you have it plugged in? I’m unaware as mine is a 2014 and I have refused to visit the dealer as it typically leaves worse than when I brought it in. They may be able to do an ecm/pcm reflash if there’s an issue. Yours has a security gateway module so you can check codes but not clear them. I’d check to see if any codes are present and if you have a wide variety, I’d say the battery doesn’t like the cold or there’s a connection that is loose. For what it’s worth, these trucks with their can bus communications are VERY picky to voltages and amperage’s. Same with the ground wires. If he didn’t have this issue before, I’d suspect a glitch/ hiccup with the software. If you look into alfaobd and obd adapters with the security gateway bypass, you can have access to essentially every thing the dealer does. My 14 has 187k and other than the occasionally random limp mode for no reason, the only “major” issue I have is with glowplug replacement. They snap when you try to remove them. I wouldn’t beat yourself up over the purchase, I’d buy another one for the right price. But these aren’t like the old style pre emission diesels, they’re a special breed. Everything’s gotta be right for it to go smoothly.

What spooked the previous Owner? " rant and raved at how great it was " ....The VM 3.0 is a Hero Zero motor IMO regardless of the year.. Very complex engine that no one wants to work on or deal with because of all the liability. Now back to your problem, it's likely started and stumble and trigger all the mis-Commnication errors.
