Fuel leak at filter

So I have a fuel filter leak under the body. Leaking out of the wire harness so I assume the seal at the filter body is bad causing it to leak at the electrical connector for a sensor?
I have ordered a new filter body.
In the meantime I was installing a bed step. Separated a wire harness buy the rear 1/4 panel to get it out of the way and I have diesel leaking out of that. WTF????
Surely diesel in the wire harness is not by design?
