I purchased a 2014 Ram Tradesman about 3 months ago. Having owned a Mercedes 3500 van with a V-6 turbo diesel for 4 years, I fell in love with the efficiency and performance. The Ram 1500 has filled the void nicely. I've been in the mechanical world for several decades and at one time owned a fleet of gas and diesel trucks. Since I learned as a kid it's better to know something than not, I learned about every truck we owned only to be sure I wasn't being fed a line of baloney from any repair person.

As many have found out, I also noticed a slight loss of antifreeze from the cooling system of my eco diesel and traced it to the EGR Cooler. I must admit I found a lot of necessary information on this site. Thank You! I have opted to replace the EGR Cooler and retrofit (for inspection purposes) a modified controller (Hot Tune) and blank off the exhaust recirculation pipe from the EGR to the intake manifold and remove the blank plates for inspection each year. I live in an area where diesel emissions aren't tested for registration renewal yet. I suspect this will change in the next couple of years and would rather be prepared than not. Meaning I'd rather be proactive than reactive. I have done nothing more than prove the problem at this point and am just about finished with all my research. I've started ordering in the parts needed and will continue to drive the truck with no load until it's repaired. This appears to be a nice project to do in the garage over the next few weeks and I'm looking forward to learning more about this engine as I move forward. I'll keep you updated on my progress and will gladly listen to any input that may come from this site.

Thank you for the knowledge this group has given me so far;
