Hi everyone! I recently purchased a 2022 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel. As a "Ford guy" I thought I had done enough research and decided I liked the RAM better and went with it. My dad made the switch a few years back and swears by his 2018 2500. I am loving mine so far. It's super comfortable and can't beat the mileage - getting roughly 27 mpg in town and 32+ on the highway. I have put about 7,500 miles on it in just a few months. I've always done my own routine maintenance (and a lot of other stuff) but it appears tough to find the filters and recommended engine oil. Does anyone have a good source for those? Also, the first article I read on here was about engine failure and folks having issues with FCA standing behind the product. I was planning to keep meticulous records and use only parts meeting the OEM specs. But after reading that stuff I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and pay the dealership to do all the maintenance? Have I made a big mistake in buying it to start with?

Hi Wayne,

If you bought it used, I would take it in to a Ram dealer for a full service because if there is an issue later, your own service records piggy back on the dealers after the dealer essentially is saying the truck is good to go. If new, I would feel fine to do my own maintenance. I change my own oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter. I do not stray from rams standards. I even take pictures of the dash with the odometer and oil life display both before changing and after changing the oil. I keep all receipts and take pictures of the receipts. And I log everything in the back of the manual. My 2016 Ram ecodiesel engine failed at 57,000 miles two years ago. I gave Ram my records and they honored the warranty, no questions asked. I order the fuel filter and oil filter from Genos garage. They are in the know when it comes to any Ram official changes in product. I buy my oil from advance auto and try to use rotella t6. There have been nationwide shortages on diesel oil, so I buy whatever matches the requirements. I don’t know the request for the 2022s. But you can call your Ram dealers service desk and ask them if they will honor warranty with the oil you are buying just to make sure.

Also, I do spend the extra money on mopar filters and fluids other than oil. I may change that when my warranty expires this spring
