Hello I purchased a used 2018 Ram 1500 eco diesel from a dealership about 8 months, I’m thinking about tuning it or deleting it but I’m bit unsure about what each means and how difficult it would be to do each one.

I have researched it a little bit and it sounds like I could do a tune on the truck or complete delete.

I don’t completely understand what the difference is between a tune and a delete are. The tune sounds like I leave all the parts on the truck and a delete is the removal of parts.

I’m from Canada and have found EOC from BC has tunes and delete kits available for purchase.

From what I have read I can get better fuel mileage and a bit better performance out of the truck by doing a tune and even better results if I do a delete.
I’m concerned that I may do something wrong with either tune or delete that may make the truck where I can’t drive it.
I would appreciate any suggestions, thoughts and recommendations from this community on which route to take.

Tune is emission intact Tuning, Delete is removing all ( AECDs ) Auxiliary emission control devices, Deleting if you live in CA would provide less risk, just make sure you have control over you tuning..

I have a Green Diesel Engineering tune on my 2016 and it works great. GDE is very responsive to any issues, it improves mileage, power and throttle response. I highly recommend the Regeneration notification feature so you can make sure the exhaust is fully cleaning itself regularly. I do not have a delete but I still see 30MPG's regularly and have had zero exhaust issues in 3 year of ownership. I like that I drive a legal, low emissions vehicle that has 450 ft-lbs of torque.

What do you mean by having control over my tuning? I’m very new to the eco diesel, I’m mechanically inclined as I work as a machinist but I don’t understand much about the tuning aspect.

Hey thanks for info, I looked up GDE and they are from Michigan. There website is very informative. Did you have to take your truck to them for tune?

Its all done through the ECM. They send you a OBD tool and then you follow their instructions. Word of advice: don't leave the OBD in the truck if car prowls are a thing in your area. Mine got stolen, it was 250 to replace and then I no longer had the original engine file to flash back to stock when visiting the dealer. It was a pain in the toockus.
