I just purchased my first ecodiesel. 2015 Big horn 4x4 106k miles. It appears to be bone stock. I’m coming from a 2003 lbz duramax with 292k miles. Not new to the diesel game just the eco part lol. Any tips or tricks up front would be great. With so many people I’m sure there will be a ton of different ideas. Thanks!

They was NO 2003 LBZ, 2001-04 LB7, 2004.5-05 LLY , 2006-07 LBZ, 2008-10 LMM, 2011-16 LML, 2017 to current LP5.
Tuning is required in Long term ownership. Your 2015 should qualify for the AEM 4/48 at AEM installation.

The VM3.0 will never measure up to any Duramax.

From everything I’ve read, it seems the GDE ecm upgrade is the best for the money. But I could be wrong. That’s why I’m here. Thanks

I put 7 not sure where the z came from. Maybe autocorrect, who knows who cares. It was a good truck and I know the Ecodiesel is not going to be comparable. With that being said, it gets way better fuel mileage and I’m no longer hauling as much as I was. So it seems like the right fit. What’s the deal with the AEM? Thanks!

Approve Emissions Modification. before you purchased the ED the previous cash in on the $$$$ and then traded or sold is the most likely.

Would it be worth letting the dealer do the aem or just get the GDE tune and not bother? I really would like this truck to last a few years.

You would have to check to see if the AEM has already been done, If NOT your choices are to leave it with NO warranty and get GDE or get it with the AEM warranty than tune will save you $$$ because the AEM will wipe out / delete GDE Tune
