Just read the threads regarding extremely high engine failure rate. If you had a tune that shut off the egr valve, you may get more life out of the engine. My advice is do your own research and determine based on that what level of risk you are willing to accept. Some eco owners are no longer...
The cam gear has proven to be a non-issue. You must have watched Shawn’s youtube video.
You do have plenty to worry about with this power plant, but the cam gear issue isn’t something you should lose sleep over.

TC, what is your opinion on the Ford and GM half ton power plants? Did they build a reliable motor?
Archoil AR9100 friction modifier. I used it in every oil change just for the bearing issue. A friction modifier is your only weapon against the 3.0 lubrication issues. It certainly isn’t going to fix a poor design, but it will help prolonging the engine long enough to be the next owners...
Who knows? I honestly wouldn’t even have traded if not for the abhorrent reliability of the Ecodiesel.

My 2016 loaded larmie had a window sticker of 54000 (just to give you an idea how it was equipped), i tried to trade at several dealers that would only give me 28k in trade. I ended up doing a trade at a dealer who gave me 30k for it. It had 31000 miles on it and it was immaculate.
