My 2014 with 187k km has recently developed a loud knock, very concerning as extended warranty has ended. Off to dealer tomorrow, and maybe new truck shopping as I’ve heard some scary quotes for engine replacements. Anyone actually know what a new motor is worth?
Thanks, I wound up pouring the cleaner directly into filter housing and didn't notice anything other than my bank account balance dropping. This stuff wasn't cheap!
My Ram parts guy sold me two bottles of BGG product, one is 244, a fuel system cleaner that he told me to pour into the fuel filter holder when I replace the filter. The other bottle is aBGG fuel conditioner he said to add to the fuel tank. Any concerns with filling the fuel filter with the BGG...
2014 ED with 140,000kms (86k miles) and while there have been issues, overall very satisfied. Oil cooler issue at 14k kms, no issues on that front since replacement. Quite a few trips to dealer with engine lights mostly related to exhaust issues, one DEF tank replacement as guage stopped working...
Mine failed at 45,000 kms (2014 ) and am now nearing 90,000kms with no further issues......knock on wood. Replaced the cooler and 5 x flush with new reservoir. 70, 000 more km on extended warranty, if it goes again, please let it be before it expires!
Hey Hiline, felt your pain! Multi flushes later they got the oil residue out of mine. We waited about 5000kms then flushed again when the replacement reservoir arrived. All good so far, about 20,000kms since the event, hang in there!
2014 with 63,000kms. One oil cooler replacement, other than the stroke i had when we found oil in the coolant reservoir, both the truck and I are doing fine!
Hey folks,
At 60,000kms on my 2014 and zero issues since the oil cooler swap at 45,000km. Anyone heard of a reoccurrence as I read that its the same part, no fix.
Thanks for sharing your gasoline story Ramjo, will familiarize myself with the fuel filter procedure because if it can happen to the best of them, it can happen to me!
Also an oil cooler victim. Just 5 flushes and a reservoir on order, no new rad/ lines like I've seen with others. Monitoring oil...
One zero too many Varoum, 45,000km/yr.
interesting that Chrysler would recommend replacing all parts in one instance, and just the cooler in another. Am monitoring coolant and oil daily, taking photos of each for reference. There is a very small skim of oil on the top of my coolant reservoir...
It was 6 days. The oil cooler took a few days to show up, and there was a weekend in there. Had the cooler been there, i would say 2 days would do it as the coolant flush x 5 takes a full day. Dealership maintains that mine is the first they have seen with this.
New oil cooler installed and 5 flushes later I'm back on the road. New coolant reservoir on order as there's a dark line on this one. General smell of coolant for the first day, but that has since passed. Mileage hasnt changed (9.7 l/100km or US 24mpg) on average. Checking coolant daily for...
Overall, I really love my eco-diesel. Its delivered incredible mileage and rides like a dream on the highway where I spend much of my time (45000kms/yr). The service guys at my dealership have been top notch, keeping me informed, rental vehicle within a half hour, waiving extra mileage. With...
Oil cooler is on back order and I'm told they are going to flush the motor 5 times. Without a fix to the cooler issue, whats to stop this from happening again?
Sad to say, but looks like I've joined the club. 2014 Bighorn ecodiesel with 45000kms when engine light came on. After saying it was likely a DEF issue they noticed oil in coolant. In a rental and not thrilled at what I'm reading. Planning a 2300km trip to Winnipeg to haul a boat to the coast...
