    Ecodiesel Fires

I had a Ford Taurus catch on fire on me. I was cruising down the interstate when a Trooper came up behind me with lights on. Next thing you know he is telling me to run away from my car! Insurance paid and everyone was happy. I lived in Hampton roads, Virginia. There are thousands and...

    Ecodiesel longevity

It comes from the FCA supply system. It showed there was a demand level of 19 engines per week or 1000 replacement engines per year. There were 104k eco engines made with no new engines entering service. Assuming this went on for 7 years - 7% of engines would be replaced at that demand level...

    Hypothetical modification question

You can leave all the emissions hardware intact and still have a reliable engine with a tune. The devil in the diesel is the EGR valve. Take that piece of evil junk out of the loop and the diesel is suddenly a great engine. The Eco is not the first diesel to be troubled by the EGR nor will it...

EGR COOLER - '14 GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL

if it is running ok just let it be until the recall is done and then it will be covered by the service agreement and the dealer will fix it free. If you dont want to wait it looks like an easy job.

EGR COOLER - '14 GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL

TC, would you recommend using the factory intake (MOPAR 68211167AC) which is $801 from Mopar or use the Banks intake or can the dirty one be cleaned? Up above you said replace but it looks like the dirty one could be cleaned off the vehicle.

EcoDiesel OBD II Flashing now available.

I dont think so. Cory Fritz (youtube and facebook) is rebuilding his engine. He is using 1800 dollar Waglar rods. He says there is no other source for the main bearings. He is saying that if the 2020 model has new bearings he will use those.

    Intake Manifold Removal

It is a 10 -12 hour (in and out) technically challenging job according to those who have done it. It is easier if you pull the cab. This would be a good time to do an EGR and DPF delete. Also there is a rubber hose under the intake manifold that you should change while you are in there. It is...

EGR COOLER - '14 GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL

I have the GDE tune and I am happy with it. But - lots of guys - especially the ones who like to go fast - really like the Sofa King. I am an old guy who just likes to save diesel and have a reliable truck. There are so many eco vids at youtube. Here is just one...

EcoDiesel OBD II Flashing now available.

sounds nice. Every time I think about standing on the skinny pedal I remember those suspect main bearings and decide not to!

    Bulletproofing

These tunes offered by GDE, PPEI and Sofa King modify the program written to your ECM. There are many many lines of code on your ECM. The build dates on the files all look the same as the original code. The likelyhood of a dealership having an IT programmer on staff to search through the...

    Service 4wd C1480

Sad to say you have to go to a shop and get it diagnosed. I would find a good 4wd repair shop and avoid those high dealer prices. Here is a great link where the guy told how to diagnose it. Looks complicated though. Gotta love the internet. https://www.2carpros.com/questions/c1480

EGR COOLER - '14 GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL

the EGR valve diverts exhaust from the exhaust pipe to the intake. The EGR cooler is a piece of leak prone junk that flows coolant together with exhaust to cool the exhaust down. The EGR diffuser tube routes the cooled exhaust to your intake. If it was me I would tune the engine with a PPEI...

    Ecodiesel longevity

I am inwardly terrified every time my wife takes the truck for a long trip. In my mind's eye I see that yellow handle hanging out of my truck!

    Finally got my Eco!

I wish I had experience with the other two. Perhaps the other two could send me a tuned 2018 4x4 Laramie (with leather) to try for 6 months or so! Or send me one and send you one and we could compare notes.

    Finally got my Eco!

you can run completely stock. It will increase your fuel mileage, your power, and the longevity of your engine. All the problems created by the EGR valve and the EGR cooler as well as the electronic throttle go away. Check out www.greendieselengineering.com

    Finally got my Eco!

man, happy for you! Now get that tune and make that truck run right. That is the most important thing to do. All the other eye candy is great but you need that tune. GDE, PPEI, Sofa King, whatever - turn that EGR off.
