Many (including myself) will tell you that an engine tune is mandatory on these vehicles. Yes, the tune has the potential to mess up your warranty but most of the tunes are removable and replaceable and therefore undetectable to any dealer.
You will find hours of reading on this forum regarding...
...next stop for the day, pulled out my OBD and reset the codes. 75 miles later it remained error free.
After restoring stock trans and enginetunes for these recalls, I didn't remember and couldn't believe how big of a dog this truck is without GDE. In fact, if I had to drive it in its...
They put both on one for me. So now I have a useless tranny touchscreen in a drawer.
I can't remember if there was a charge or not.
I also have a useless pre touchscreen device in the same drawer
As far as I know, gde does not remove egr functionality but they do or will offer a touch screen tuner for storing tune on file and reverting back. Speaking of which I need to see if Jimmy at SKT can put my engine and trans tunes on one handheld now!
After some recent research into the fate of my GDE engine and trans tunes if I move ahead with the VB1 and W58, in my personal opinion, the W58 is soley focused on bringing tuned vehicles into compliance. If you have the recalls done, you have to pay GED $100 for the updated compliant tunes...
If you go with sft, You’re Stock , stg1 and stg2 tunes stay loaded on the Touchscreen device and you can flash stg2 at a later time if needed. If you get the combo engine and tranny tune, The tranny tune would also be on the Touchscreen. I bought the stg1 tune and stg2 was included on my...
Hello, I looked around to find a good place for my review, and could not find a spot, so I figured I start a new thread.
I’ve had 7 months with my tune and I want to share my experience with the SofaKing tune. I’m 55 years old and old school and not very good with all this new technology so...
The pre EPA was wonderful. The engine ran smother and cleaner, and the milage increased. It also displayed when the particulate filter was being cleaned (burning off the particulate). The big problem was changing the GDE tuned ECM for the factory tuned ECM whenever you took the vehicle to the...
Stage 1 will shut off the EGR and you can leave it on the engine OR remove it. GDE tunes are EPA COMPLIANT, so all emissions equipment is intact and operable.
I see that. I like that idea. It seems each company has good points but it’s missing something. HD seems to be the only complete package. I can tell if there is a downfall to buying a engine tune here, a tranny there and the delete packages elsewhere. It’s perplexing trying to put it together...
Thanks biodiesel. It seems the forum sent some kind of auto link to my email. Anyway yeah 382,000 on this motor with its sole issue being the reluctor or tone wheel failure. That makes it a very “green” engine compared to one where the EGR kills it in half that time. Previous motor had head...
The ECU is the computer that runs your engine. An ECU tune is when a company rewrites the software that run the engine and optimizes it. Making it work better. On the Eco Diesel engine, tunes can make a big difference in the mileage, engine life, and power.
I must be referencing old information / late to the game... I have read the GDE tune turns off the EGR electronically. I have seen a youtube video where the EGR is clean (as well as the engine oil) after thousands of miles using the tune - again must be old information. My goal is to have a...
I'm sorry I think you are missing my point. I am saying I don't want to throw away $ - but also don't want to overpay. It doesn't make sense to me that 'you get what you pay for' - it is a computer program - it's not vinyl vs leather seats. If GDE can write a program to turn off the egr -...
C'mon Shadow I agree with you on the surface, Now look at it this way, All CC transactions have buyer protection, regardless of the seller policy UNLESS the buyers agrees to wavier of card Holders Rights, WE TC DSL, Do NOT sell race Parts without the buyer agreeing to those terms, its unlikely...
