First, did you ever get any messages on the dash telling you the exhaust was getting full, or a "drive at highway speeds until this message clears" message?
EcoDiesels (and all new modern diesels) have a DPF that collects soot and other "harmful" particles and traps them...
Welcome to the site! Smart move on buying your own OBD II reader. They are handy to have in situations like that..
I would recommend getting all the recalls done and see how it goes!

It seems most dealer's don't know what oil to put in the EcoDiesel. It's sad actually...
That's why you're better off doing it yourself, which as been said already. Welcome to the site Lou.
Looks good. The stock tires are junk! The best thing to do is to replace them as fast as you can. Let us know if you take any MPG hit with the heavier tires. I don't think it'll be much though if you do.
