The official US Gov doc:

It's getting worse an worse for tuning companies. :(
I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WPW6BAE/?tag=jhdiesel-20
However, I never used it on a EcoDiesel. CTS hooked up for that. It did work well on a Duramax for what it's worth. It will clear codes fine for any OBD 2 enabled truck (like the EcoDiesel).
Welcome! Glad to have you here...
Coming from an 02 is quite an upgrade.. these trucks are nice and spoils us for sure with the luxury and the MPG they offer. Good move with the lifetime warranty.
If you can't get the warranty to cover it, I would look at letting that DEF Pump and DPF falling off the truck.. of course, when it falls off you'll need the proper tuning and exhaust hardware..
Welcome! We have a ton of threads here with different results. I'd recommend taking a look around and see if you have anything in common with the other guys!
You don't have to. Follow the specifications that the manual tells you, and then keep receipts of the things you buy for proof. Most here do this as the dealer is so much more expensive rather than do it yourself.
Welcome! Emission's will be a concern from here on out I'm afraid, no getting away from those with any modern diesel.. and they all have their issues.
As far as the lease or buy, have them run the numbers. I personally won't lease a vehicle, but everyones financial situation is different.
I think your better off buying a used engine from the junk yard. Even if you decide it's not the truck for you, you would get a lot more used with a working engine rather than a truck without one.
