EGR gases mix with incoming air cooled, its unlikely the Exhaust gases in the Plenum can heat the incoming air enough to combust, the source of the combustion IMO has to come elsewhere.
We are talking flame temps 1500F+ after cylinder combustion.
Check out this video and the EGT's The Video...
Thiers's your fire. The plenum, Look at the casting fins on bottom backside, Once the swirl valves sick heat will warp the intake Valve(s) and the flame will fine its way to the plenum, its only time before it combusts. VM can replace every EGR cooler and it will still happen.

Dmax, be careful if stored in Steel Drum for long periods of Time. My guess its either the recycled tote or use like you are.
I would follow GDE recommendation on the Lube if it starts to get 50/50 for long periods of time Yearly, that may play in on early replacement of HPCR components.
I hope GDE has the tune soon, I've dealt with the Powers at NVFEL and EPA, very time consuming and costly.
In the mean time try to only drive in Hwy needs, and if you do drive city NO dart driving will aid in lower soot production. Keep your fuel tank full when convenient and try NOT to drop...
Its was NOT a Rant.
The OP was asking for Dodge/Ram Gen History, I did Not comment on the Odor.
Ram19, I have 1200 Pages of contact info of VM/FCA/Fiat. That Mysteriously showed up in My VIA USPS Back in No 2017, I share just small segments of the Info Months (Before) *some* (After) the info...
Diesel enthusiasts Like myself (Decades) take our history very ,very seriously. Fiat and VM have just about single handily Destroyed the 1/2 Ton Market.
Sergio Marchionne , Made the comment about the VM3.0 before he died, That if you believe that VM 3.0 is Violating CAA laws you must be...

No, 2014-19 have only minor changes 2016-2019, 2014-15 Same engine.
Even with all the Changes the 2019 Cummins has was NOT enough for 5th Gen.
No decision has been made on the 2020 Eco New engine, Body, I think it measures up to 5th Gen 1/2 Ton.
On same ECM/PCM Yes, On different ECM/PCM.
Changing is allowable on Current functional ECM/PCM, Install different W/O WITECH and you will have trouble. Sales code line sheets ,etc.

When CP4 fail their is generally tail pipe warnings and engine performance issues. Is its Possible to just Die Yes, is it likely NO. The in tank will cause a NO start condition, its easily checked. When In tank pumps die, they will NOT destroy Downstream pumps. Their are millions of in tank...
Pgaultsc69, I tip my hat to you, Its rare That I find Eco owners placing the failures were its Belongs Fiat/VM, Their are powers at FCA that wanted additional R/D on the 3.0 before it was brought to NA, Fiat in its misguided attempt to bring the 1/2 Dsl with the VM3.0 to NA has failed and cost...
If its under a safety re-call its NOT advisable to sell W/O legal notifications , wavier and disclosure , if you purchased the vehicle knowingly it as safety re-call required.
Being the new owner you would NOT beware of the safety risk until weeks/months after ownership.
At least that's MN...
Pgaultsc69, When did you buy it, if you purchased after the EGR re-call, it cannot be re-sold and certainly repaired until the fix is released.
No 2014-19 all (Zero builds) suffer the same problems, form the same source VM Cento Italy.
I doubt Alfa is capable of reprograming Different ECM, You will need the Ing/Key Code and PIN #s. their will be most likely a VIN Mismatch.
Once the modules detect changes NOT approved it will default to protection mode that's why it starts and Die's.
Its best to re-write VIN and Reflash to...
