(MPG) 2015 laramie longhorn limited 3.55

Welcome to the group. Wow to start, even with a "tune" my wife and I both see about 2 to 3 MPG loss in the winter with winter blend. We use the OptiLube products as they have the highest lubrication factor on the market. Since you have experienced icing at the fuel neck I would at a minimum...

Service Engine - Electronic Throttle Control Warning Light

Not being a representative of FCA, I believe it should be under warranty.

Service Engine - Electronic Throttle Control Warning Light

Good time to be under Warranty. This is all part of the Limp Home Mode, no turbo, limited fuel map, no gear higher than 3rd, horrible exhaust. Have experience with both my vehicles and this code. My dealer has an excellent tech and my own skill has lead to good outcomes. Good Luck.

Service Engine - Electronic Throttle Control Warning Light

    1. Do not drive it anymore than absolutely necessary. Like park it now. The code referenced did in fact put your vehicle in Limp Home Mode. This mode stops the regeneration cycle and if you drive the vehicle the Diesel Particulant Filter becomes clogged which will cause additional headaches...

    GDE HOT TUNE ECM

We ran into exactly the same theory when we attempted to get into the CNG conversion, we do CNG repair at this time, and found that due to expense the manufacturers would specialize in just a couple of years or one manufacturer to build certified kits. Good Luck and I love your tune in my truck...

    GDE HOT TUNE ECM

Actually that is exactly what I thought they were doing, but they are CARB approved and I was hoping the discussion would lead to a better explanation of the difference between the two. I was also hoping that you may decide to go through the hoops to get approved, although I realize that some...

    Electronic throttle control

The Service Electronic Throttle System warning can be triggered by some 84 different sensor situations. When the error is coded the first items in the long list of causes is the Turbo Under Boost, second Fuel Injector quality under/over expectations, third High Pressure Fuel Pump low...

    Cooling fan

The fan is a constant variable speed type fan, not on or off. There is a module that controls the fan speed which communicates with the ECM/PCM to control the fan speed in relation to engine temp. So could be a fuse issue or a module issue. A good tech is a must in this diagnostic situation...

Cold weather (-5 to 20 degrees fuel issues

I have used several products, some that I thought were good I have found to not be the case. With that said I have settled on the Opti-Lube line of products. Their Winter product is excellent for anti gelling and lubrication of fuel system, their Summer product is more toward system lubrication...

How many miles on your Ecodiesel ??

114K miles and finally the DEF tank level sensor has gone south, shooting code. Called my dealer to schedule a date, 1/2/2020, and confirm that they had necessary parts. Acknowledged parts in stock just needed time slot with tech. Estimate two days.

    Engine oil

I too prefer the T6 in 5W-40, however I have used Valvoline products for many years in other vehicles. Still use bulk 5W-30 synthetic in the shop. My OA's have been very satisfactory and yet by comparing OA's for the Valvoline product may change my mind as to my choice of Diesel oil as well. On...

    GDE HOT TUNE ECM

BANKS Power Derringer for eco? Their website gives a CARB OE for engine tune. Although no Transmission tune from them. Or was I seeing something different?

    Running out of fuel

The prime didn't work? To prime you do not touch the brake pedal and cycle the ignition to the run position. You will hear the lift pump in the tank humming, once it stops making noise cycle ignition off, wait a moment and cycle back to run position, listen for pump noise. If no noise it is safe...

    Engine Fire

Exactly, we have an intake manifold loaded with byproducts of incomplete combustion and raw fuel from the late injection for the Regen Cycle and now all we need is an ignition source, or do we? Based on the USCG Chemical database, the Auto Ignition Temperature of Diesel Fuel ranges from 350 to...

Thermostat location and is it the 3 way valve

I got the opposite "coolant temp below thermostat control temp" first changed the water temp sending unit/sensor, to confirm initial reading. Same reading. Replaced Thermostat, which are side by side each other by the way, and no more codes. Your red lightening bolt is the Service Electronic...

    Engine Fire

Haven't seen these high of number of vehicle fires since the Pinto. Engine compartment fires normally follow several factors, engine hygiene, fuel system design, ignition/electrical systems, dirty engines, oil leaks/combustible material/presence of organic matter, which follows hygiene...

    Engine Fire

Thanks for the concern. But after 32 years technique is as effective as tool. Never use water to fight a hydrocarbon fire, just puts wheels on the flames. I liked your analysis of ignition source heat but is lacking the heat of the internal EGR failure allowing direct exhaust impingement onto...

    Engine Fire

I received my recall notice for the EGR cooler and the FCA statement was "no known repair" and the one I like the best "monitor your coolant level". My dealer Service Rep stated recall is a EGR cooler replacement and that all parts are on back order. Well after 32 years in the Fire Service I...
