Thanks I see that now.....I will delete that post

01TwoForty......thanks for your response and I agree with your thoughts on the oil cooler. After your info on synthetic oil breakdown temps, I did some study on that. From what I have read, the total breakdown of synthetic oil is just above 400 degrees but with some degradation starting at 300...

I can't recall anyone and including the most frustrated that didn't love this truck. The concept, design, comfort (ride and quiet), mileage and appearance just beats anything I would have expected out of a truck.....we love it! With that said, after our major oil cooler failure that required a...

Should I think this is normal? This is a picture of my temps just as I exited the freeway after a 8 mile steady incline (altitude gain of about 800 feet} at 60 MPH and a outdoor temp of 50 degrees. My only load was a RZR side-by-side in the bed. In summer months, I often tow my much heavier...

What are other members are experiencing for engine oil temperatures at varying loads? I read a post that implied that there is a higher percentage of engine failures in EDs that are used more often for towing and hauling heavier loads. Could this indicate that the oil cooler is undersized for...

Mharrison......thank you so much! I finally found it and only with your help. I really appreciate it. Andy

This oil cooler problem has me in a knot. Chrysler is offering me a MSRP exchange and I'm struggling with what to do. This exchange offer came as a total surprise. We love our ED......this truck is perfect for us, except for reliability and mostly related to the oil cooler issues. I can't...

Do you think the use of this aftermarket oil cooler void the factory warranty?

Here is a picture of my dash panel......it would be great if I have a numerical read out. I sure can't find it.

Hello Sadecodiesel......could you give us the mileage and build date of your ecodiesel.....thanks

I have a 2015 ED Big Horn trim. I scrolled through the display options again and I evidently don't have a engine oil temp read out.....other than the "C" to "H" indicator. Thanks for your help

I can't seem to find that.....is it in the manual somewhere? Has any member observed their oil temp when towing at near tow limits. I found the following note. "High oil temperature in excess of 240°F (115°C) will break down petroleum oils and cause oxidation, which in turn forms deposits...

help......I was wondering how you members are seeing your actual engine oil temps? My oil temp gauge goes from "C" to "H"? Am I missing something? Thanks for any help

Hello John. Very interesting to read your comment. How confident are you in your source for this info? When I google "HOAT and OAT", I can find information that indicates that both "can" be aggressive towards solder and metals. It is very difficult to weight the alternatives for us when we...

Update....Since the above post, we made a 2nd trip to the dealer and they flushed the system again and put on a new coolant recovery bottle. We had been checking the bottle daily and also the engine oil level. The bottle had become a real mess, but the engine oil held perfectly at the "full"...

Brady.....that number is pure hearsay and from another forum where they were saying that there is very few oil coolers failures. From what I read on the forums, there seems a lot more failures than that. Just yesterday, I asked Chrysler Customer service for the number of oil cooler failures...

Brady...that 5% is pure hearsay.....number came from another forum and from a person who was trying to say that there were very few oil cooler failures. From what I read on the forums, I get the feeling that the number is higher than that. Yesterday....I asked Chrysler Customer Service if they...

13,011 perfect and delightful miles before sudden oil cooler failure. Chrysler replaced all parts that are touched with coolant including engine. ($20,000 plus repair). Working now to get residual oil out of cooling system by flushing. I understand that this failure occurs in less that 5 % of...

We had our ecodiesel hauled to the dealer yesterday (Monday). Spent most of the day there. As they checked out the truck, we actually looked at the 2016 2500 RAM with Cummins diesel. This is a much proven power train and with our experience with the ecodiesel, we thought we might want to...

thanks for the response. I hope I can keep up with the developments in this situation. We absolutely love our truck but with this oil cooler problem reoccurring, we are feeling we really need to protect ourselves and use the lemon law if possible. FCA just isn't being transparent and...
