Hi all. Just letting you all know my frustration with owning an 2015 ECO Diesel.
A little back ground - I bought the Ecodiesel new at the end of 2014 as my retirement truck. Plan was to pay it off before retirement and put a million miles on it or die first. Yes I knew it would have to be...
I had an issue where I got a message - truck will not start in 250 miles due to DEF system fault. Was about 550 miles from home. Found a dealer who could not get parts for five days. Left me stranded. Was wanting to do your start procedure and was told by tech that when I got the 3,075 dollar...
Yep had same problem driving from Texas back to Illinois. 2015 Ram Big Horn ecodiesel. Got warning saying engine would not restart in 250 miles take to dealer. Exhaust flange studs broke, exhaust gasses melted top of DEF injector and wiring. Was stuck in the middle of nowhere Arkansas 400 miles...
My 2015 Ecodiesel caught fire three days after getting recall notice for possible engine compartment fires.
The night it caught fire I smelled something hot, pulled in parking lot and saw smoke, left engine running, lifted hood, looked for source of smoke, saw small flame on passenger side of...
Don’t use it. Jet A is less lubrised than today’s diesel fuel. You might like it in the short term but in the long term your fuel system will wear out prematurely.
Well, think I know how my fire started. I took a long hard look at where the fire was on my truck and because I got it put out so quick I’ve got an answer.
Looks like the EGR Difusser tube got so hot it melted the edges of the thick piece of rubber insulation that covers that part of the...
Mine caught fire a couple days ago. Lifted hood to see why it was smoking. Saw a small flame, pulled out fire extinguisher from back went to front and flames were much larger. Put out fire and let it cool down.
Pulled the plastic engine cover off and thick foam piece that was on passenger side...
Well this just got interesting. I now have 53,500 miles on truck and fuel mileage still sucks. Got a check engine light on the way home so stopped and had code read, P026c. Also noticed on the rest of the ride home my fuel mileage got better.
Drove from Illinois to Shreveport Louisiana and Illinois to Muskogee Oklahoma pulling bass boat. 13.5 mpg best I could get coming or going on both trips. Had a Toyota Tundra that saw one trip to Muskogee and got about 12 mpg. Really miss that truck.
First trip after getting ED was to Table...
They can have mine! 35,000 miles, average mpg 18-19 about 80 percent interstate driving. Pull bass boat and lucky to get 14 mpg. Wish they would have put cheater software in my truck.
Best Milage I got was 200 miles round trip average about 60 mph - fuel milage a whopping 21 mpg. Older fuel and oil filters, filter better than new. So I do not change at most recommended time intervals. There is a tipping point though, you don't want a filter to plug and bypass. I do pay more...
I believe the thicker 15w40 diesel oils are used to compensate for fuel to oil dilution. Put a few thousand miles on some of the larger on highway Diesel engines then have the oil viscosity checked you find that viscosities are reduced due to fuel in the oil.
The recommended 5w30 oil strength / shear resistance is better than the T6. The lighter weight oil is also more efficient at removing heat from bearing surfaces. If you have time and want to know a little more about what oil might better protect your engine from wear read this...
I have a 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel with 34,000 miles. 1.55 gear ratio and full size topper. 90 percent of my driving is interstate and about 25 percent of that is pulling a 3,000 lb trailer. I have never once gotten over 21 mpg. Usually average 18 to 19 mpg with out trailer and 12 - 14 with...
