2014 Eco Diesel Ram - sudden warning light - low battery 9-10V - truck stopped - had to turn off in drive. Checked battery later - 11.5 .

sudden warning light - low battery 9-10V - truck stopped - had to turn off in drive. Checked battery later - 11.5 . Cleaned posts, charged, and moved.
The battery seems OK - running but not charging. Checked with meter. Dealer says it could be a problem as reported to him several times, of the alternator wire rubbing against the motor. Where do I start to look to fix the problem, or do I order a new alternator. Any thoughts?

11.5 is low. A good battery should be 12.6 ish. Should be over 14 when the truck is running. I’m surprised it starts your truck.

I would start with all connections to and from the alternator cause if it's not charging then it's either a bad connection, wire that's shorted out, or the alternator is bad. You can find wiring diagrams on here if you look in the threads. Hope you solve the issue. When I went to school for motorcycle technology, one saying that stuck with me from one of the instructors was, "test, don't guess." Meaning don't throw parts at it hoping it will fix the issue.

I would grab a bright flashlight and an inspection mirror and look over the wires coming from the alternator. Don't just look, inspect with your fingers too - wiggle stuff, move the harness around, feel parts that aren't visible, turn it to see rub points, etc. If you don't find anything , pull your alternator and have it tested (parts store). "While you're in there", if you don't remember how old your serpentine belt is, this is a good time to change it.
