2015 eco diesel not cranking

I’ve had the truck about a month now with zero problems, but today after getting off work I went out to the truck and attempted to crank it with no avail. I tried about three times letting it turn over for about 5 seconds each time, after that I let it sit for about 10 mins and tried again and it acted like the battery was dead. So I waited another 10 mins and tried one more time and it started turning over, still not cranking so I decided to hit the gas a couple times and after I did that it cranked up roughly but still cranked. I let it idle for about 2 mins and started driving. Once getting on the highway I noticed it was smoking a lot out of the exhaust. I needed to get it home which is about 10 mins, I drove all the way home watching the smoking and it stopped about half way through and when I got home I killed the truck and started it back up and it acted fine. Did it again and same thing cranked right up, but now I’m worried and was wondering if anyone had some insight into what is going on

Sounds like your egr shit the bed

Just took it to the dealership and when driving it up there the check engine light came on. When I got there he hooked the scanner up and said that the code is was throwing was for a hose that goes to the egr was unhooked so they are working on it right now and going to call me and tell me what the verdict is
