I just bought a used 2018 with 20,000 miles. The threads are now scaring me a little bit. I am guessing that the vast majority of owners are satisfied and are not modulated to vent. Those with failures would naturally be more enthusiastic about their posts. So my question is I have heard about the ERG and it’s ability to get clogged with soot. Should cleaning it and the map sensor frequently be beneficial to avoiding engine failure?

Chances are in your favor of getting a good truck. Cleaning the EGR tube anp MAP sensor can't hurt. Maybe every 50,000 miles or so. Some have well over 100,000 miles and have never cleaned them. It's certainly not going to help with avoiding an engine failure.

Check out the GDE tune. It's probably the best thing you can do to your truck. If you're in California you will have to consider another tune though.

Ditto on the tune. I too have an '18. Tune it immediately. Also tuned the tranny, as I tow with it 5 days a week. 👍
