Hi all.. I am new to the forum and ready to make the move to an ecodiesel. I have a Cummins in my motorhome (ISL 400) and had a 07 Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 Mercedes... But this engine gives me some worries.. There seems to be lots of differences between the two years.. And a large difference in price! What are the opinions of the group? Throttle lag, Low power etc in the 19's.. How much of that is true or exaggerations? Informed advice is more than welcome!

FCA is coming out with a new EGR cooler soon which may help the current issue with the coolant leak.
I am hearing the new 2020 has the same turbo lag issue even though it’s a different engine. I might buy a 2020 Ecodiesel as the fuel economy pays off in the long run. I had a 2019 Hemi for a month and hated getting only 14-18 mpg.

I have a 2020 ecodiesel LL 4x4. I've only put 2000 miles on it since Jan. when I got it. At first I babied it and squeezed every drop of fuel to see what MPG I could get. My best combined was about 22.5 mpg. That mileage has seemed to drop after 1000 miles. I am seeing closer to 21 combined. I don't drive it hard but not being as easy on it as the first tank. The turbo lag is very bad and dangerous. So far that is my only real complaint. It pulls great and rides smooth for a man that had several back surgeries and on constant pain management. But if I slow down to turn on a road, I have to remember that I am not in my Tundra and I better have enough forward momentum to coast through the oncoming traffic. The constant thought of the failures of these motors weighs in my head. At the end of the 5 year warranty, I'll only have about 40k miles on it.
