Looks like another TN native member here... I saw that truck on fire on the side of the road and I told my wife, I wonder if he's on my forum? Hate to see that! Small world..

Hopefully the insurance takes care of you and you can get back into something else. Are you thinking about a EcoDiesel or something different?
Something different, 100%. Hated to have it happen, but have been having lots of trouble as of late with the E.T.G. Did you have something similar happen? Do you have an Ecodiesel?

I did not have those issues fortunately.. I'm now in a Duramax... for now. Wanted to be safe and not take the risk any longer.

I haven't had it happen to me, but I sent a email to FCA this morning with about 25 photos of ecodiesel's on fire. Hopefully it will get someone's attention, this can't be ignored anymore, it's NOT OK.
good job, but I think FCA will just ignore you, I suggest to resend the email to NTSB and NHTSA, I have about 20+ pics off bookface as well and that was just a quick search in the month of August this year :(

Unfortunately, I believe those who had their trucks go up in flames need to report it to NHTSA so they can investigate. The first thing they want is my VIN, which if I haven't had a fire doesn't matter. I think we need those who had their trucks burst into flames file a complaint immediately, and the more and more complaints they get, maybe it'll be taken seriously...

Yes, my son bought a certified-preowned 2016 eco diesel and 27 hours later it caught fire on the highway. He and his wife were in the car, she is 7 months pregnant. I am so grateful they are ok. He has no vehicle and lost almost 10 between his cash down and vehicle trade. He is getting nothing from FCA. There are three fire investigations going on. I am looking for any suggestions on what to do from here. He does have an attorney.

Would like to know if anyone has had their ecodiesel catch on fire. We had a 2015 ecodiesel
until last Friday when the engine bay caught on fire. Last September we had the fuel system replaced.

On Friday I was pulling our tt when I noticed smoke between the truck and the tt. I thought it was from an 18 wheeler as it was blowing black exhaust. I came up to the exit on I20 when the check engine light came on. I pulled into a vacant parking lot when the battery low volts light came on then followed by the other indicators came on. I turned the engine off and pulled the hood latch, went to pull hood up and there was more smoke so I walked away without opening hood. I saw a flame between drivers front tyre and fender.

The truck has been written off. Chrysler is sending out an inspector to look at the truck. The inspector said the truck should not have caught on fire. Anyone had this issue?
Yes I had a Blue 2015 Bighorn 4x4 with ecodiesel. It burned to the ground along I70. The engine stopped and I coasted to a stop. No warning lights it just lost power and quit. I opened the hood and saw nothing. I started it and got up to speed and reentered the interstate. Again it died and now I saw smoke out the rear. I stopped and opened the hood burning blisters on my fingers from the heat of the hood. The whole top of the engine was a blaze. Total loss. The bed and rear tires were to only thing not burned. The insurance paid for the vehicle. I bought it used with about 115000 miles and this happened after owning it for about 3 weeks. I assumed that the insurance would go to Chrysler for a settlement but I never heard anything.
Now six months later I bought another 2015 ram Laramie ecodiesel. Couldn't happen twice right! Well it did. Last night same thing. Within 2 miles of the first with the same fire department at the scene my 85000 mi ram burned to the ground again. Can't wait to talk to the adjuster again. Driving in the fast lane passing a car and it started loosing power. I got in the slow lane and coasted to the side. I opened the hood and again the top of the engine to the rear was a blaze. This time all was burned. All 4 tires and even the license plate. No paint left. I have not heard anything from the insurance about talking with Chrysler about the first one. Looking forward to knowing what the f.

Rodey0, I'm lost for words, I also cannot thank you enough for sharing this with the community.

For all You Naysayers that the 3.0VM is road worthy and just fine ,if this happened to Rodey0 Twice its no different than owners that have had their 3.0VM replace two and even three times, Your support of Fiat VM is why this has been happening for Six Years, its time to take the Blinders of and stop following/Listening/ even viewing comments that claim Fiat/VM products are no risk to owners.

Rodey0, Do You have picture(s) if willing to share , I have a folder with many Eco's on fire and would like to add these two.
