Just sharing another failure. My parents bought their eco diesel new in April 2018. It is a 2017 model. Perfect maintenance records and recalls done.
November 2024 driving on freeway during a downpour of rain the engine failed at 35,000. Original set of tires , six oil changes and FCA is okay with giving them a $21 k bill to replace the motor! So far all Goodwill requests denied. Service advisor said “some of these motors were just bad and unfortunately they got a bad one”. Unbelievable.

Yep....The risk of ownership of VM 3.0 is not worth the benefits IMO... I don't care what improvements they VM claims have been made.,...Again, its Hero-Zero powerplant. It saddens me when I read these posts, Thier are Less cost methods available.

I bought a 2018 model 3.0L diesel in 2019. I waited 5 years for the two recalls to be accomplished (High pressure fuel pump and throttle position sensor software). I serviced the engine as directed and never had an issue. It has performed flawlessly with 74k miles under its belt. I was religious with fuel additive as well using Lucas.
after being a ford man my entire life I am now a Ram Customer and plan to remain.

Nothing wrong with Ram... its Fiat/VM Motori that's the Powerplant MFG...I've heard the same comment by 100s of VM and CP4 owners, Many said the same comment...Additives have Little to NO effect on CP4s, good clean fuel is the ticket for CP4 longevity... I have had CP4s 0 to 504K miles the ones that fail are all do to contaminate or very dirty fuel. The one that made 504K miles had auxiliary filtration form NEW in addition to OEM filtration.

At 35K, they would have been still within the 3 year bumper to bumper, not to mention the 5year 100K warranty. I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with 3.0 EcoDiesel. I very carefully made certain to have all oil changes and other maintenance on time, according to Chryslr's specifications. At approximately 28,000 miles, the engine threw a rod through the side of the block and then locked up. I had to have it towed an hour away to the dealership where I bought the truck. They installed a new engine and gave me a loaner for the 3-4 weeks they had the truck (dealer is John Hester, Sanford, North Carolina, and they have been absolutely great, and no begging to get them to provide the service they should provide). I only have 3,000-4,000 miles on the new motor. I'm nervous about the truck now, I don't particularly trust it, and would like to have something different, but don't feel I could have to start payments all over again. So, I guess I'm stuck with it at least up to the 100,000 mile warranty. But at least I am dealing with a very honorable dealer.

Yes... some have had success with goodwill....You will need to fight in most cases. We have documentation that VM was aware of the Failures dating back to 2016... You can find the info at FOIA

If yours is a 2019, I am thinking you were still within the time limits of the 5year/100,000 warranty?
If you were outside of that 5 years I would like to know if they did a Goodwill for you. Thank you
