Greetings all and thanks in advance for any insight. I build for a living....not a mechanic....so be easy on me!

Long story short....2015 Eco wouldn't start so had towed to the dealer. After waiting a week for the diagnostics I have been told that the camshaft has broken. Quoted $1800 for repairs. My question is shouldn't they be pulling off the CP4 fuel pump to see if it has failed/bound up and created the damage to the camshaft? If the fuel pump isn't performing properly I don't see how it can not affect the cam. Again....thanks to all who respond!

I don't think the HPFP has anything to do with the camshaft failing
Usually, a shaft failure is with the Crankshaft, not the camshaft

Thanks John. I only ask because of this video I came across. Specifically at around the 4:50 mark he talks about fuel pump binding. Cheers.

Interesting. He's not sure about the pump. In fact, doesn't know if it should be turning hard or not. I see the connection (pump gear to cam gear) but not being a mechanic I'm at a loss to comment further.

I was told at the dealer today that the HPFP is part of a newly issued recall this year - may want to inquire about that before they stick you for 18-hundo. From what they told me, the parts are a 5-month backorder though so it might be a while.

Yep. It's recall Z46, issued 6/9/22. No parts yet.

Hi, Im new here, has anyone tried to use an aftermarket fuel pump, since the “RECALL” currently has no resolution?
I don't think there's any aftermarket pump available
