Hi guys , I’m new to the group , I’ve owned a 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel now for 3.5 years with little to no issues until lately. I started losing coolant and took it to the dealer who took a while to figure it out. After some searching they found the egr pipe to be wet with coolant so they replaced it . I since drove it for 400 miles and noticed it loosing coolant again . I took it to my local dealer and explained what had gone on. They couldn’t figure it out and said it seemed fine. They said the egr pipe was wet again but said they thought the last dealer didn’t “burp” the coolant and it was probably from that . I took it home and it was still loosing coolant so I brought it back. They tested some more and said they found a bunch of coolant in the oil and I need a new engine. This doesn’t make sense since they said they tested the oil the first time and it looked normal , also the egr pipe was soaked when I pulled it . Does anybody have advice on how to proceed with the dealer?

Do a search on my posings. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine at 97K miles. Dealer spent two months trying to say all is well and they couldn't find any problem even though it was losing coolant. Finally, they found coolant in the oil and had to install a new engine.

Was it out of warranty when they put a new engine in ? They are saying I’m out of luck and need to come out of pocket 19k

Replace the EGR cooler. I guarantee from the description you provided that it's the EGR cooler. I've had 3 or 4 replacement (honestly have lost count) on my 2015 with 220,000miles. Luckily all but 1 were covered under warranty.

They replaced it and said they took the new one apart and it was dry and no leaks

Turbocharger coolant return line under intake manifold? Just had to replace mine in march. At first I thought it was egr, but was doing full delete and egr cooler was fine. No need to pull cab-remove intake and replace hose. 70year old man, took about 12-14 hrs to do. Replace with HTHP silicone.

So, I am rebuilding my engine atm.

I am not sure what a wet EGR Pipe is (assume one of the 2 rubber hoses that connect coolant to the EGR Hxer, in which case is an external leak and would not put coolant into the oil). I can understand a leaking oil cooler putting coolant into the engine. But how does a leaking EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler put coolant into the engine? I don't believe it can as these hoses are external to the oil system. Attached pic is the oil cooler.

Sorry for the duplication but I didn't want to retype this on my phone lol.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a lawyer that has experience in these things? I feel I have a pretty good case here since my truck was running and driving with a slight coolant leak when I brought it to the dealer now they say they won’t touch it or try and start it and say I can but they won’t bc they are afraid of it blowing up .
