As long as it's within the shelf life, yes. But IMO your best bet is to fill up in bulk at a truck stop. Half the price or better and you know it's fresh.

A good FAQ on DEF here:

http://www.noxblue.com/what-is-def/

The shelf life of DEF depends on ambient storage temperature. DEF will degrade over time depending on temperature and exposure to sunlight. Expectations for shelf life as defined by ISO Spec 22241-3 are the minimum expectations for shelf life when stored at constant temperatures. If stored between 10 and 90 deg F, shelf life will easily be one year. If the maximum temperature does not exceed approximately 75 deg F for an extended period of time, the shelf life will be two years.

Most 2.5gal containers do not have an easy to read date code but simply have a hieroglyphic code on the jug. I have a corporate email somewhere to explain it if I can dig it up.

Just for reference, filled up the DEF this am at a Pilot station. In 7600 miles I used a lil over 5 gallons. At the pump I spent less than $15 @ $2.79 gal. When I went inside to pay, the 2.5 gal boxes on the shelf were $15.69. No brainer.

Hey Brown, I had the exact situation happen to me. Saw that crazy 2.5 gallon for $16. I was at 7200 miles.

It's usually big rig (Semi) lanes that have DEF and I feel awkward in that line with my little ecodiesel.

Eh I wouldn't worry bout it. Your dollar is welcomed the same as theirs. Get in, fill up, get out. Easy.

Same token tho, if all lanes are packed I wouldn't wait unless I was in a no-restart situation but that's never gonna happen.
