Thiers's your fire. The plenum, Look at the casting fins on bottom backside, Once the swirl valves sick heat will warp the intake Valve(s) and the flame will fine its way to the plenum, its only time before it combusts. VM can replace every EGR cooler and it will still happen.

Brianwheeler64 hang on to that plenum, its clear evidence for Buyback.
This Now explains why the NON-EGR fires, the Valve were warped before deleting and over time detonated.


It does Not explain why some Eco's have burned down Hours after shut down. Its looking more and more of multi fire starters.

EGR gases mix with incoming air cooled, its unlikely the Exhaust gases in the Plenum can heat the incoming air enough to combust, the source of the combustion IMO has to come elsewhere.

We are talking flame temps 1500F+ after cylinder combustion.

Check out this video and the EGT's The Video was after Plenum EGR replacement.

$16,757.00 and 55 days later (10/30/2019-12/23/2019) the EGR system was repaired by RAM. 5 weeks later the engine completely seized up. Its still in the shop (01/31/2020-present) and they are talking new engine and new turbo $20,000 plus. I told RAM it exceeded the limits for Lemon Law and I wanted a Buy-Back. They are refusing and trying to dump $20,000 in a truck that they would only give me $25,000 for on a trade-in. Time for legal action.

I’m sorry to hear that man. FCA really needs to step up to the plate already...

I am a fire investigator, usually retained by insurance companies. I investigate all different types of fires and have recently started an investigation of a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel that caught fire while it was being driven. I would love to get additional information from anyone who has suffered a fire of their vehicle.

I am an owner of a 2015 eco diesel, to which last year -May 2018- my engine blew up. They tried at first blaming my mechanic for using the wrong oil.
My very well respected mechanic who also owns a Dodge drove to the dealership and took their heads off with proof of the oil he was using that the Handbook suggested.
Well, new engine in it.
But now having issues.
My accelerator went haywire, only letting me go 40 MPR.
Had to drive it like that to a dealership and they said it was just an update🤬
I’m very nervous driving this fire bomb around waiting for the EGR part to come in.
Is it easier just getting a lemon law atty at this point or start the buyback process?

IMO, the EGR cooler is a very, very small % of the cause of the fires.

Many of the fires had the foam removed, the O-ring(s) that leak will need additional fuel to burn, Just flame only will burn out in less than a minute, Most of the fires have occurred when driving. The O-ring(s) just do NOT leak enough to fuel the flame to other areas of the engine compartment. That being said if the fuel lines leak that will add to the source. I mentioned earlier that maybe 3 Owners out of 100 in America Practice good engine hygiene, so the fire will continue after the EGR change-out.

All the leaves grass and debris, Plus all the rodent activity just add to the increase of fires, Heck some owners never even open the hood the entire time of ownership, Some don't even know the engines spec's or if it has an Oil stick or its location.

So is removal of the foam desired or should it be left in place if the egr was left off due to prior mechanical work? I’ve heard mixed reviews of the foam wether it should be left on or off.

Any Thinking person will remove the Foam, if your educated in what to think instead of, how to think leave the foam on, I would never want a person that is what to think person to experience such emotional distress over foam removal.

The review sources are what/where? What Percentage of the reviews are 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th party info? If they are the source of the destroy Your Eco at 1500diesel.com, My suggestion is to visit that site for laughs only. Info at that site has bought untold misery to many Eco owners.

Yes, that site has some good members, but staying their will satisfy keystrokes only.
