~28 ish. I feel like a lot of things would have to go my way to get 33 MPG.

It is possible to get more mpg out of the truck? The answer is yes.

I have repeatedly gotten more than 30 mpg, but was mostly highway that is level, in great shape, and I was able to anticipate hills by accelerating a bit prior to going up hills. Keeping the truck in 8th gear is key and difficult once the truck is under a load.
I've found that the truck does better with a bit more air in the tires. I have the 20 inch rims and instead of 39 pounds I am running 43. Tire wear seems even and the truck does not bounce. Not sure if I will be adding more, but with the summer months coming in I thought I would let the pressure increase due to heat take place and observe the truck's behavior before doing anything else.

As far as stop and go, the truck seems to be in the 18 to 19 mpg range. Still great for a full size pickup.

I'm pretty sure persons and payload they had over 1000#. Doesn't really matter much when you're sticking to flat ground. Up Hill at 55 with the extra weight is what kills your mileage. But 1000 miles to a tank is pretty frickin extreme.

I also got 33 mpg once. Was only a 35 mile trip but I was quite satisfied I just got 28 on a 130 mi round trip this past weekend.

Just got 27.2 on a 500 mile trip. cruise set at 70mph for a large portion of the time and 2 mountain passes. I actually made NO attempt to get extra mpg and just drove it normally. Not towing this trip.

I just got my worst mileage ever not towing.

I-29 from way up north by me to Fargo ND 75MPH speed limit and a 15+MPH dead on head wind. And the high rise cap.
I could barely see 17 instant on the evic maybe 19 if I could tuck behind another high profile car. It was rough.

But when you think about it, I'm crying about getting 17-18 in a worst case scenario driving condition. Vs struggling to get the 17-18 in best conditions in the Gasser.

That in consideration not too bad

With my new camper at just about 7k loaded out I get about 14 ave on the highway. I've seen almost 16 on slower speed mixed driving with the same trailer. My previous camper which was probably in the 4500-5000 range I was able to get 17 on the same runs.

Kinetic energy of the weight benefits mileage though especially in a highway scenario. Just like how pulling an empty enclosed trailer is a b*** but you get better mileage once it's loaded.

And slowing down just helps. That goes for towing or empty. My problem was my wind drag equivalent was that I was going in excess of 90MPH with the high profile cap. Just as bad as towing a tt.

I've hit 32 on all highway trips. I find that 70mph with traffic yields the best fuel economy. The traffic makes the air turbulent so their is less wind resistance. Traffic also has ups and downs in speed giving time for coasting (in gear).

I never get close to that at those speeds, In hilly New England I find that about 60 yields the best mileage, typically no more than 28......of course dropping to 50 is even better but too slow for the highway.

I'm with cevans. I find 65-70 to be the sweet spot on the highways for me. Even running 75 sometimes. For some reason my truck doesn't like 55-63 as well as I think it should.

The worst i have seen over the last month and five tanks is 29mpg. I usually stay right at 30-31 mpg this is going 50-75 in traffic to work everyday about 150 mile round trip.

You must have really nice smooth highways and respectful traffic. I could never hit that over 65MPH

Im in Texas so it is pretty flat, but houston traffic is no jock. Im in it for 4 hours a day

I hit 31.2 mpg on a 300 mile trip once was very impressed. Cruising 70-75 mph. I haven't been able to hit that since the dealership did a flash on my truck. Now the best I seen is 28 mpg on a long trip....

With 18 fill up, my life mileage is 21 US gallon, 25 Imperial gallon. Can't get more accurate than that. About/almost half is towing a trailer (5000 lbs plus truck load) in the rockies/camping, etc. The rest city driving in Calgary. On a couple of trips, I did hit 28 US / 33 Imp mpg. Again, in the mountains. My highway speed are usually 100 to 120 KM per hours. I follow the 10 percent rule. If it 80, I do 88, etc.
