Hi everyone so 2 weeks ago local dealer did my egr cooler recall and today I decided to do my oil change and as soon as I removed the engine oil drain plug a bolt drained out of there (see pictures) I started investigating and found that the new egr cooler has the same bolts just brand new, now I don’t know what to do, should I be worry about it? I’m planing on contacting the dealer Monday.

I would be worried.
Wouldn't even dive the thing until I showed the service dept. what happened! Have them tow it and check it out.

I have to wonder how it got into the oil sump, unles the oil cap had been removed while the were working on it, or had the intake or a valve cover off, there's just not that many routes into the sump.

Even if the CAP was off, explain how it manage to find the fill Hole and all the way down to Sump, the Valve cover may have been off, theirs not a lot of room in 3.0 DOHC heads for that bolt to work its way around to drain ports, in the picture it looks to big to fit down the head drain ports.

It also would not surprise Me with QC at VM Cento Italy that the bolt was their from new.

I’m really not sure what happened and how it got there .

IDK, just tossing out ideas, every engine is different, as are the paths to the sump from the top/top-end.

Do you think it could’ve done any damage to the engine?
so far it runs really good

I'm with TC, there from the original engine build.
If it were to cause a problem you wouldn't be guessing at it, you would definitely know it.

I would just move on and not worry about the bullet that missed you. OP its not even worth the time your going to spend for this answer, No we have no idea how that bolt was in your sump.
