So, most of us know that whoever came up with the idea of cramming soot back down the throat of our Ecodiesels should be tortured... slowly and painfully. Here's a thought though - the forums here and elsewhere all talk about EGR cooler deletes and tunes and the like, but what about taking the obvious approach? What about just ... blocking off the tube so the soot has nowhere to go? Our EGR systems aren't pressurized, correct? Simple vacuum pulls this stuff in doesn't it? Could it truly be as simple as fabbing up a little block off plate between the tube and the intake itself with a couple gaskets and never having to worry about stuffing the soot down the engine and ultimately into the rod and main bearings? Anyone tried this? I'm genuinely curious - especially for those who live in states where visual inspections with an obvious delete could spell disaster.
