Finally Some New Shoes.

Tires showed up this afternoon, me being all giddy skipped out of Work and bumped up my appointment at the Tire Shop to today.
275/65/20 cooper STT Pro.
factory 20x9" longhorn rim.
Factory 4 corner air.
Hypertech speed calibrator (oddly set at 33.0" though the factory setting was off and is supposed to be a 33)

No spacers, no rub at all even full lock with it aired down. But it's close! Particularly to the mudflap mount but that's it.

MPG went down a couple clicks but it was windy and I didn't drive much to get figures.

A little noise coming from a highway Tire but nothing that will bother me.

Even with the air suspension in entry/exit mode which is how it was when I took those clearance pictures. Normal height is plenty more room

No decent tire is cheap. Not bad though considering I gave $1700 for my last set of 35's that I had on my Duramax.

Yeah but sometimes the local guys just can't compete with the price of online retailers. This was a fair example. Would've been 322 per Tire local plus disposal and tax so 1400 and I'd still be short the 200 speed calibrator

Curious as to why you went with a $200 speed calibrator when a monitor will do the same thing plus a ton of other things for the same price? Maybe I'm missing something about the differences of a speed calibrator and what the Edge products can do?

Maybe with the tire change settings on a monitor it only changes what is displayed on it and not the actual gauges of the truck?

Well an edge is between 300 and 430 depending which model. And I already have torque pro on my phone to monitor all that stuff when and if I ever feel it necessary. And to clear codes. I wanted something I could plug in, correct the Tire size, and be done. 144$ through some shopping around was reasonable to do that considering the sticker price is also 229 for a hypertech

If I guy didn't have a different scanner and had interest in one a cs2 goes for just over 200 to a new jet customer though and a cts2 only 330

I had 36,500 miles on my factory tires, I put about 15-20k on before snow flew, they were awful on the highway. You could get around in town just fine light on the pedal in 2wd but if there was snow covered highways you just didn't feel safe.

It all depends how many miles are on your factory tires, as with all all season tires there is a soft grippy outer layer that provides adequate winter performance but once that first 10k is worn off the tires you get into the rock hard mileage compound. And that part of the Tire is awful in winter.

The factory goodyear sra's change throughout life, the Center bar changes from being lugged to a solid rib at half life. Well before the wear bars. By then you are onto mileage rubber.

Use your judgment, are you in a part of Canada that requires snowflake tires in winter? And are you looking for an aggressive Tire for replacement or a highway Tire? It all depends on your personal use.

Honestly my first tank I've lost 4mpg average. Down to 18mpg average from 21-22. A little worse than expected but at the same time not unexpected

Honestly go to bf Goodrich website and read the direct reviews of the k02. There are a LOT of unhappy people. Especially when they have close to if not THE highest price of any Tire. If you're mostly on road try a more highway orientated Tire. Cooper atw is a solid all weather Tire with 50k Warranty. Srx is a more highway orientated Tire but if that fits your needs it reviews spectacularly. And if you're in a budget crunch starfire 510's are dirt cheap and made by cooper. They're a side by side comparison to factory sra's with better compound imo. I happily ran them on my Jeeps for years.

Best I can recommend is to establish what you really need from your tires, is it strictly on road and confidence inspiring? High highway miles? Or do you spend ENOUGH time off the beaten path to truly justify an all terrain Tire.

I could never justify 1200+ on k02's in factory size unless I absolutely needed a D range Tire without changing sizes. You can get a set of starfires for about 500 installed, or keep it around or under 800 range with nearly any other quality Tire. Such as the atw or srx. That is a huge difference from the k02

Again I hear you on wanting to keep money in your pocket and get the most of the tires that are well already paid for, and I considered the same myself even after ordering new ones to just a few more weeks and keep burning the miles off the old ones but I also wanted it done. So I jumped into the Shop as soon as possible. No regrets.

Have about 8k on them now, no visible wear, still howl down the road but not too obnoxiously. Seem to be holding up really well. Worst winter MPG I've seen is 15 or so, I average out between 17 and 19 depending on speed. Not terrible from my old 22 average. And i'll probably sit closer to 19-22 for the summer once the warm up time is decreased.

Tires don't pick up rocks too bad, the tread is too high void to hold most, my wife's car has Toyo Celsius and pick up gravel much worse.

Haven't gotten into much mud or off road but what I have, if the truck stops moving even in 4wd you just throttle through and the tires dig through until they bite something to get you going again.

Definitely happy with the purchase aside from missing my 600 miles per tank which is now 400 mile fill ups.
