Does anyone know why there is a primary and secondary fuel filters on the Jeep and not on the ram? Also is there an aftermarket secondary filter that you can install?
I don't know if there is a secondary filter on my Ram but the primary is under the bed above the drive shaft in front of the axle. I just put an aftermarket filter on mine, it didn't have the outer wrap the Mopar filter did. I just did my oil and filter change myself all the previous ones were done by the dealer. I have had the fuel filter changed at every other oil change, Our diesel here is not near the quality or cetane level of European fuel.Does anyone know why there is a primary and secondary fuel filters on the Jeep and not on the ram? Maybe Jeep was just more paranoid? Yes there are several aftermarket additional fuel filters available, however most filter to a larger particular size than the OEM spec, 5micron vs. 3micron, so I would be careful to identify the filter specification for particulate size. I am looking into a separate water separator.Does anyone know why there is a primary and secondary fuel filters on the Jeep and not on the ram? Afe makes an excellent product. The WIX fuel filter is now in stock (not special order) and I switched at my last oil change with no issues. Price $20.00 at Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. The trucks have a combination fuel filter/water separator. The jeeps uses two smaller filters to due the same thing. Afe makes an auxiliary lift pump fuel filter setup that works with our stock lift pump and filter setup.
