Hello all!
I just bought a new to me 2016 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel.
I owned a 2005 Ram 2500 Cummins until about 3 years ago when it was totaled by the insurance company for contaminated gas that destroyed the engine.
In the rush to get a replacement I used the money to buy a 2012 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi and I was very unhappy with it. I no longer need the 12,000lb towing capacity the 2500 gave me so I decided to step down to a 1500, but wanted to go back to a Diesel. So here were are. Looking forward to learning and sharing with this group.

I would HIGHLY recommend putting in a oil catch can to filter out unburt oil/diesel from combustion chamber because the EGR will recycle it into the Air intake manifold causing all kinds of headaches. I wish I had done it sooner. Other then that the truck has been great. Also get AlfaOBD app and watch/read up on its capabilities. Definitely worth the 60 bucks for it

If a truck is tuned to turn off the EGR, then where does that "unburt oil/diesel" go?

Iirc the catch can keeps it from loading up the turbo fins. The tubing comes from the ccv and directly into the intake after the filter, about 6” from the turbo
