Hi all. New to forum and the ecodiesel. I have had and still have an 01 Cummins for 17 years. One of my bosses had an ecodiesel and had so many issues that he lemon law'd it and got all his money back. I always wanted one, but heard all the negative stuff. Well, my brother and sister in laws moved back to my state near by, and right after we found out she has cancer. Had her move in with us since my wife lost her job due to covid and she could be with her all the time. Brother in law works a lot. Taking her to doctor visits in the comfort of my wife's 2013 Ram 1500 with the 4.7l. Brother in law didn't have a smooth ride for her, that she needs due to pins and rods up her spine from week bones from cancer. So he traded in a vehicle for a 2014 ecodiesel. He likes it. But, I am worried, cause nobody has money now and it might not be reliable enough. So, I got one too, lol. Figure I could learn more about them and help out when issues arise. Mine is a 2015. Then 3 weeks later, before first payment mine dies on me on a trip to get another factory exhaust cheap for back up. I believe it is the crankshaft sensor, reluctor wheel. Is there a way to run an inspection scope in and make sure? Thanks for having me. Sorry such a long post.

Ya, got truck in different state. Told me it had the w58 recall needing done. Only open recall on it. But, I have been putting it off because I don't even have it titled to Pennsylvania yet. Was waiting on title. Got title 3 days after it broke down. Now I can't get it inspected. Temporary Ohio plate still good till April 9th

And the W58 recall won't fix the bad parts. It's just a bandaid to be able to possibly get you off the road to safety when faulty part fails

Ok, I could not see any access point to be able to put an inspection scope in. The starter even looked to be difficult to get to to even try removing it for inspection. I ended up calling local dealer and talking to service manager. Sounds like he will take care of us. I will keep you posted.
