Hello everyone. Glad to find this website. Three years and 57,000 miles (80% highway) later I'm ready to get rid of it or shoot my brains out! I love this truck - so comfortable, bells & whistles, style, 23.6 mpg average, etc. But here's my service list.
7K - new Catalytic Converter
14k - check engine light (sensor for soot control)
45k, 50k, 52k and 57k - check engine light (limp mode) for service electronic throttle control

Now its past warranty and I won't be able to afford to have these issues fixed or lose addition time without a vehicle. I live in the boonies and the dealer is 40 miles away. I baby this truck, Mobil 1 since day one and have only pulled a pontoon boat four times.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Bill

Tune it and remove the emissions junk or buy a gasser they dont have the problematic emissions system.

Thinking about going a different route. Not being a contractor, I am interested in a Honda Ridgeline. All right - start blasting me! lol

The RidgeLine is the ugliest vehicle on the road and no red blooded American man should purposely daily drive one, or a CRV for that matter. Just my opinion of course..

Your going to get blasted for that :D. But, with no warranty it might not be a bad idea if you continue to have the service electronic control message. It seems that message is never fixed, or dealers throw parts at it praying.

Welcome to the forum!

I knew I was going to hear it! With all the technology today I can't believe they can't get this V6 right. 50k vehicle and I'm worry to go for a road trip. I wish I could just disconnect all of the sensors and just worry about the fuel, fluids and filters. Remember those days??!!

Have you considered the gas V6 Ram?

Hey Brady. I have already owned a GMC Sierra V6 and Toyota Tundra V8. All MPG around 16-17. V6 works harder and uses as much fuel at a V8. The EcoDiesel is great. Lifetime average is 23.6. I'm spoiled now. I wouldn't think about going back to a gasser but this truck reminds me a bipolar person. Runs great then turns into a hell hole. Do you think there is a way FC would apply a complimentary extended warranty? HAHAHAHAHA!

Of course it depends on your driving style, but many owners of the 3.6-Liter V6 are seeing average MPG in the 20's.

I'll give it some thought. Thanks. But for now, my truck gets towed to the shop on Wednesday, hopefully repaired on Thursday, and I'll be broke on Friday. Afraid to drive it after that. I've lost all confidence in her. It's like having a gorgeous girlfriend when the minute to turn your back she's cheating on you. lol

Yea I wouldn't stick with it either. The lil GM twins have a diesel option, along with the upcoming Ford halfton diesel. There's always a new EcoD as well. So you have choices out there and that's a good thing.

That's what I'm considering. To much risk with Ecodiesel. Love the truck but $3100 EGR valve and EGR cooler repair hurts! And no guarantee that it's fixed!
