Long time lurker here, thank you very much for all of your valued knowledge.

Was cruising down the highway today not pushing it at all at about 1800 RPM and all of a sudden started making an instant knocking noise.
No vibrations though.
Wishful thinking as Sounded like possibly part of my serpentine belt had let go and was methodically whipping against something under the hood. No such Frikkin luck.

Crawled at idle for one minute to parking spot and took this quick video clip before shutting her off.

Quite mechanically inclined but does sound like bad bottom end knock.

It’s a 2014 ram. 224,000 km on her.
Egr deleted 80k ago and brand new clean manifold installed along with recall new hpfp 1000 km ago. Religious regular oil changes. 15w50 rotella t . EOC stage 1 delete for past 20,000 km.

Based on your guys knowledge, am I hooped ?

No metal shavings when drained oil, either in oil or on drain plug. any hope at all based on my description and video she can be saved?

Doesn't sound like an internal (rods, crank etc)knock to me. Close proximity to exhaust manifold leak perhaps,
Steth scope it to pinpoint the sound location?
Since it's deleted there is hope you are good.

Here is a new video. Taken this morning it only ran for about another 10 seconds from last video then started making these sounds. I shut it down right away. Restarted for this video.
It will start right up as normal and no huge vibrations with the sounds but sounds super bad.For the last couple of months, it was making a bit of short shrinking kind of sounds like a bearing in the air conditioning or alternator pulley was starting to go.
Think by any chance this sound might be related to an accessory driven by the belt has gone? Belt still spins

My guess is NO OAs? If you own a VM 3.0 OA is required IMO, otherwise be prepared to spend $$$$$ in replacement costs.

Concur, possible rod bearing. Check filter, drop pan to look for shiny stuff.

How's your oil pressure looking?

I've never heard of it happening on one of these engines yet, but I've had quite a number of flexplates fail on several AMC V8's over the years and they sound like horrific rod knocks right before it goes. Generally that break happens right around the flange where it bolts to the back of the crank (and usually has a press-brake stamping right where they fracture), but once you've heard that sound, you never forget it the next time.
